Position Summary:

The Associate Director is responsible for a wide range of accounting, finance, and administrative services at a Community College. These services include several functional areas as assigned: General accounting; management; Capital planning; Grant accounting; Travel and Professional Development; Accounts Receivable and Billing; Procurement and Accounts Payable; Fixed Assets management and/or other duties as assigned

Incumbents must possess a proven ability to effectively work with a culturally, linguistically, and ethnically diverse faculty, staff, and student. They are expected to have excellent oral and written communication skills along with strong Information technology literacy skills such as Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams, etc.)

Minimum Qualifications:

A Master’s degree in Business, Accounting, Finance, or a related area and a minimum of one (1) year of experience in a Fiscal or Business Office.

Successful Candidate must have or must possess:

  • Experience using Banner financial accounting system
  • Experience in fixed asset management
  • Experience in business office operation including fixed assets procurement and accounts payable
  • Experience in grant accounting
  • Experience working in a Cashier’s/Bursar’s Office and performing accounts receivable functions
  • Knowledge of state travel and professional development guidelines
  • Experience in the supervision of human resources

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience working with state agencies and other external organizations in contract and grant compliance.
  • Experience with capital budgets and planning.
  • One (1) or more years of experience in Higher Education.
Example of Job Duties:

Under the direction of the Director of Finance and Administrative Services, the Associate Director of Finance and Administrative Services is accountable for the management of the College’s financial and physical resources through effective performance in these essential functional areas:

  • Strategic planning
  • Management of financial resources
  • Management of physical resources
  • Management of administrative services
  • Management of human resources

In addition to the accountabilities listed above, the incumbent is required to carry out the essential duties of Attendance and participation at convocation and commencement ceremonies; Service on assigned committees and task forces; Attendance and participation at committee, staff, informational and professional meetings. These may involve attendance at evening or weekend events.

Starting Salary:

$67,587 approximate annual plus excellent State of CT medical insurance, retirement, and related fringe benefits. Salary Range for this level is $67,587-$122,795.
