Job Description:


This position reports to Emerald Archer, Director of the Center for the Advancement of Women at Mount Saint Mary's University and Executive Director of the Women's College Coalition. While this position is primarily remote, the CAW/WCC Communications and Project Manager may be available to work at the Doheny or Chalon campus on an as needed basis. The CAW/WCC Communications and Project Manager will split their time between both areas, working to advance communications and streamline project management for both entities:



Center for the Advancement of Women (CAW) at MSMU


The CAW/WCC Communications and Project Manager assists the Director with Center administrative duties. These duties include and are not limited to: increasing visibility of the Center (maintaining social media and website content), ensuring effective communications internally and externally, assisting with the proofreading/copyediting of Center reporting and documentation, and leading the logistical set up of campus/virtual events hosted by the Center.



Women's College Coalition (WCC)


The CAW/WCC Communications and Project Manager serves as the point of contact with the WCC, working closely with member institutions and WCC partners. The manager will create and execute effective communication strategies to advance the Coalition and will oversee the WCC website and social media presence. S/he will also work closely with the WCC executive director in the implementation of strategic priorities to meet the needs of member institutions, including but not limited to research projects related to the advancement of women's colleges.



Duties and Responsibilities:


Center for the Advancement of Women


  1. Works with Director on internal and external communications, alerting community members to new Center opportunities and initiatives.
  2. Works with the Director on creating a quarterly Center newsletter to be distributed to internal and external community members/subscribers.
  3. Strengthens and maintains the Center's social media presence by drafting, editing, and posting social media posts for all platforms.
  4. Updates the Center's website on an as needed basis.
  5. Works in close collaboration with the MSMU communications and marketing team to promote the Center's programing and updates to internal and external audiences.
  6. Copyediting and proofreading Center documentation (e.g., Collectif, The Report on the Status of Women and Girls in Californiaô, focused ad hoc reports).
  7. Serves as a liaison with the University's Institutional Advancement team on public programming matters when the Director in unavailable.
  8. Assists in meeting preparation and event planning/logistics, including reserving space, overseeing invitations and RSVP lists, compiling meeting materials, arranging catered meals, etc.
  9. Performs basic day-to-day administration for the Center, including but not limited to processing receipts, check requests, and disbursements, and coordinating the Director's email correspondence from external organizations.
  10. Performs other duties as assigned by the Director.

Women's College Coalition (WCC)


Communications:


  1. Creates a communications strategy to advance the presence of the WCC
  2. Develops and implements public relations strategies that enable the WCC to cultivate meaningful relationships with targeted external audiences, including the media and key stakeholders.
  3. Maintains and updates the WCC website, ensuring that content is current, engaging, and accessible.
  4. Assists the Executive Director and other WCC presidents with media requests and preparation of interviews.
  5. Monitors media coverage about the Coalition and its members and report media placements to the WCC Board of Directors.
  6. Strengthens and maintains WCC's social media presence by drafting, editing, and posting social media posts for all platforms.
  7. Acts as the main point of contact for the WCC, monitoring the Coalition's email account, voicemail, social media, and other avenues of communication and responding and/or forwarding communications in a timely and professional manner.

Projects:


  1. Assists Director in the creation and execution of strategic priorities set forth by the WCC Board of Directors.
  2. Conducts research projects related to women's education.
  3. Assists in meeting preparation and event planning/logistics, including reserving space, overseeing invitations and RSVP lists, compiling board packets and/or other materials, arranging catered meals, etc.
  4. Performs basic day-to-day administration for the Coalition, including but not limited to management of the operational budget, tracking all dues payments, processing receipts and disbursements, coordinating the Director's correspondence, along with all email correspondence for the Board and WCC membership.
  5. Maintains and updates the WCC membership directory on a regular basis.
  6. Identify and develops strategic partnerships with other organizations and stakeholders to promote the WCC mission and work with external audiences.
  7. Performs other duties as assigned by Director.

Other Duties and Responsibilities:


  1. Assists the Associate Vice President of Institutional Advancement, Director of Communications and Marketing, and the Associate Director of Communications and Marketing in various tasks, as needed.
  2. Performs other duties, as assigned.



Requirements:


Knowledge:


  • Some prior background in women and gender studies, political science and/or global affairs is beneficial, but not required.

Abilities and Skills:


  • Effectively organize, prioritize and handle multiple tasks to meet established deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Think critically, and write clearly and concisely.
  • Be a creative problem solver.
  • Serve as an analytical, detail-oriented team player who can also work well independently.
  • Excellent writing and communication skills.
  • Strong administrative and technical skills
  • Strong personal integrity and emotional intelligence

Education:


  • Bachelor's degree in communications, public relations, English, marketing, or related field required; Master's degree preferred.

Experience:


  • 2- 5 years' experience in public relations, communications, marketing, administrative support, or relevant experience.
