The Department of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering at Princeton University invites applications for a postdoctoral research associate or more senior research position starting in early 2022. A Ph.D. is required. The appointment is for one year, renewable annually, based on satisfactory performance and available funding. This appointment is subject to the University's background check policy. This research position is led by Prof. Ryne Beeson and will develop theory and algorithms with implementation for an active project on global optimization of optimal spacecraft trajectories in complex dynamical environments. A candidate for this position is sought with expertise in optimal control and numerical optimization for problems in astrodynamics. Previous experience in high performance computing, and professional code development and management is desirable. The candidate will also have the opportunity to work with graduate students in broader research efforts in astrodynamics and data assimilation.
