Job Responsibilities:

The Citadel, The Military College of South Carolina is accepting applicants for an Admissions Counselor in the Office of Cadet Admissions. Under the supervision of the Associate Director, the Admissions Counselor is responsible for assisting in the dissemination of information, recruitment, evaluation, selection and enrollment of first year cadets (both incoming college freshman and transfer students).

Responsibilities include:

  • Works to increase the College's visibility in both local and distant markets.
  • Schedule off-campus events including meet & greet afternoons and nights in assigned territories.
  • Make presentations to schools and community-based organizations, establish lasting relationships with school counselors. Give presentations during daily campus visits and fill in as tour guide when needed; support all recruitment events both on and off campus.
  • Assists in planning, coordination, operation, and evaluation of assigned recruiting programs and activities.
  • Coordinate outreach, correspondence and information flow to advance recruitment initiatives.
  • Evaluates candidates for admissions; review applications and make appropriate admissions recommendations as well as provides direction for evaluation of schools in assigned territories.

Minimum Qualifications:

A bachelor's degree is required. An understanding of marketing, admissions, and recruitment principles. Position requires strong interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills. Ability and interest in speaking with prospective students and their families required. Strong computer skills are required. A Valid Driver’s license is required. Initiative and the ability to work with minimal supervision is critical. Ability to think through established processes and make appropriate decisions. Must be able to effectively function in a team environment. The ability to travel and willingness/ability to work flexible hours is required for completion of duties.

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience working with high school/college students is desired, but not required. An understanding of The Citadel and the Corps of Cadets is a plus. A working knowledge of BANNER/RECRUIT and BDMS is desired, but not required.
