Job Description:

Our Business Analyst roles serve as the principal conduit for managing system or reporting requirements between the business and the software development team. These positions will assist in delivering efficient, stable and secure solutions in support of the University's administrative, educational, and research needs. The Business Analyst I, under general supervision, performs routine business analysis support functions.

Responsibilities:

Analytical (40%)
  • Collect, analyze, review, document, and define the system scope based on business needs and requirements.
  • Coordinate the assessment of business needs through direct interaction, mapping of current and future business processes, and looking for opportunities to develop and improve the business through effective use of technology.
  • Participate in Business Process Management group efforts to collect and analyze metrics and continually improve processes owned by the group.
  • Coordinate the creation of detailed functional and technical system specifications.
  • Confer with clients regarding the nature of the information processing or computation needs a computer program is to address.
  • Consult with management to ensure agreement on system principles.
  • Analyze requests to provide actionable recommendations and key findings.
  • Recommend new equipment or software packages.
  • Assess the usefulness of pre-developed application packages and adapt them to a user environment.
  • Conduct preliminary investigation for all project requests.
  • Develop, document, and revise system design procedures, test procedures, and quality standards
  • Assists with design software or customize software for client use with the aim of optimizing operational efficiency.
  • Writes, updates, and maintains automated processes to assist customer base with functional resources.


Operational (25%)
  • Coordinate with business analysis and customers to analyze user needs and develop / modify software solutions.
  • Develop, update, review, unit test and implement new programming / processes based on the needs of the business owner for applications and systems requirements associated with any federal, state or TAMUCC business requirements.
  • Coordinate, schedule, monitor, and participate in planning, designing, analyzing, training, implementing and testing applications systems in response to user requests and requirements.
  • Assists with unit testing and making appropriate changes to ensure that the desired information / results are produced. Identifies and corrects system causes of data integrity and reporting issues.
  • Consults with managerial, engineering, and technical personnel to clarify program intent, identify problems, and suggest changes.
  • Understands and works with up and downstream applications of varying size, including the flow of application data.


Administrative (25%)
  • Provide direction and participate in training, quality assurance, and documentation for all stakeholders.
  • Prepare manuals and train workers in use of new forms, reports, procedures or equipment, according to organizational policy.
  • Document findings and prepare recommendations for implementation of new systems, procedures, or organizational changes
  • Define the goals of the system and devise flow charts and diagrams describing logical operational steps of programs.


Other (10%)
  • Attend educational workshops; review professional publications; establish personal networks; benchmark state of the art practices; participate in professional societies.
  • Proactively learn and utilize new technologies, concepts and procedures as appropriate to project requirements
  • Analyzes source documents, data base structure, and management report requirements.
  • Reads manuals, periodicals, and technical reports to learn how to develop programs that meet staff and user requirements.
  • Adheres to internal controls established for department.
  • Performs other related duties as required.


Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in applicable field or equivalent combination of education and experience:
  • High School Diploma & Six (6) years of experience
  • Associates & 4 years of experience
  • Two (2) years of related experience. One (1) year of training or experience may substitute for one year of education.


Preferred Qualifications:
  • Ability to use smart phone, standard office equipment and standard office equipment / office software. Ability to use software for process flows.
  • Ability to use smart phone, standard office equipment and applications, servers, data base management system software, data base user interface and query software and / or object or component-oriented development software.


Other:
  • Standard office environment. Sedentary work: Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body. Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time. Jobs are sedentary if walking and standing are required only occasionally and all other sedentary criteria are met.
  • Specific job requirements or physical location of some positions allocated to this classification, may render this position security sensitive, and thereby subject to the provisions of Section 51.215, Texas Education Code.


Salary:
  • 52,410/Annual
