Duties Performed in the Usual Course of the Job:

The Department of Communication Studies at Sam Houston State University invites applications for a one-year renewable full-time, non-tenure-track faculty position at the rank of lecturer to begin Fall semester 2022.

Candidates should have a Master’s degree (in hand by August 2022) in Communication Studies or Speech Communication. A minimum of two years teaching experience, mandatory experience teaching both online and face-to-face classes, and degrees from accredited universities or institutions of higher learning are required. Candidates must be able to teach both public speaking and business and professional communication classes. Preference is given to candidates with experience teaching intercultural communication, communication theory and conflict resolution and those candidates with a Ph.D.

The teaching load is four courses, usually in face-to-face format, in both fall and spring semesters. Occasionally, online course sections might become available. Summer courses are not included in the teaching load.

Educational Requirements for the Position:

Applicants must have at least a Master’s degree in Communication Studies or Speech Communication. Preference will be given to candidates who have a PhD. Candidates are expected to have degrees from an accredited university or institution of higher learning and have their degrees in hand at the time of hire.

Experience Required for the Position:

-Minimum 2 years college level teaching experience.
-Mandatory face-to-face and online teaching experience.
-Preference given to those with experience teaching Public Speaking and Communication for Business & Professions courses.
-Service learning/community engagement experience is a bonus.
