Job Description

The photographer/videographer, under general supervision, creates permanent visual images for a wide range of creative, technical, and documentary purposes. Offers advanced technical photographic and videography skills, including maintenance and management of equipment as well as archival files of work products. Provides photo and video imagery to be used in various marketing campaigns.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Works with departments to discuss required images/videos and how to utilize them.

  • Prepares and operates cameras and appropriate equipment to obtain images and video.

  • Creates and edits images using the appropriate technical methods and software.

  • Maintains asset archives, retrieves photos and videos upon request, and maintains the portfolio archival system.

  • Works with the creative teams to research, develop, implement, and evaluate creative marketing campaigns, strategy development, and implementation.

  • Produces high quality photographs and videos of people and events in several different venues, including on and off campus events for publications, reports, and for public relations and news stories.

  • Communicates with, encourages, and directs photographic subjects, putting them at ease.

  • Manages the processing and editing of images. Discusses technical problems, checks for quality, and deals with client concerns.

  • Contributes to the effective team management of relevant problems, issues and opportunities.

  • This is an essential position and may on occasion be called upon to work evenings, weekends, and/or holidays.

Required Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in applicable field or equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • Two years of related experience in photography and videography.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Knowledge of word processing and spreadsheet applications.

  • Knowledge of developing and executing a concept photograph.

  • Ability to multitask and work cooperatively with others.

  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively to ensure understanding.
