Faculty Honorifics Coordinator

Position Summary

The Faculty Honorifics Coordinator creates pathways to elevate MSU both nationally and globally and provides opportunities for nominations for internal and external honors and awards. The coordinator builds internal and external alliances, nurtures cross functional collaborations, and creates partnerships that deliver avenues for the growth and recognition of MSU faculty and academic staff.

The coordinator works closely and partners with the Office of the President, Office of the Provost, Office of Institutional Research, Office of Research and Innovation, University Communications, colleges, faculty, and other key stakeholder groups. The coordinator provides insight and synergies that cultivate and coordinate opportunities for faculty nominations. Providing direction and thought leadership this position will develop strategic goals and objectives for honorifics. Working closely with the Office of Institutional Research, the Faculty Honorifics Coordinator defines associated metrics to measure results, ensuring institutional goals are achieved.

Areas of responsibility:

  • Lead and coordinate MSU’s honorifics initiative across the institution.
  • Provide a comprehensive strategy designed to continually grow and improve the honorifics initiative and build internal/external engagement.
  • Develop and execute processes for nominating faculty, including collaboration with key stakeholders, track nominations and outcomes.
  • Conduct an environmental scan for opportunities and peer benchmarking – both short term and long term – for faculty and academic staff in concert with Institutional Research.
  • Helps develop potential pathways to advance faculty nomination and recognition culture to senior administrative leadership, key faculty, and academic staff.
  • Works with the faculty nominees and relevant partners (such as Office of the President, Office of the Provost, Dean’s Offices) to prepare effective nomination materials and strategy for support, including: developing templates of criteria and letter structures, drafting and/or revising nomination materials, outreach to internal and external nominators if appropriate, and submission of final nomination packages.
  • Work with campus wide leadership and communications to increase program profile, reputation, visibility, and support.
  • Partners with academic and administrative units to continue to innovate and enhance faculty nomination and recognition processes.
  • Collaborates with internal/external partners to implement changes designed to improve/increase program/project goals/objectives.
  • Reviews & analyzes outcome measures and recommends changes & enhancements that will innovate and invigorate the program.
  • Unit Specific Education/Experience/Skills

    The job requires: Knowledge equivalent to that which normally would be acquired by completing a four-year college degree program in Business Administration, Management or field related to the employing unit; three to five years of related and progressively more expansive work experience in project management, business analysis, facilitating/training with a focus on business management; workflow process analysis and implementation of strategic initiatives or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
