Position Summary:

Florida Atlantic University Counseling and Psychological Services (CAPS) is seeking 2 Post-Doctoral Fellows in Psychology for the Boca Raton campus. This is a one-year appointment with a start date of August 8, 2022. This residency is structured so that the hours required for Florida Psychology Licensure (2000) will be attainable.

Summary of Responsibilities Include:

  • Provide high quality clinical and culturally responsive therapeutic services to FAU students. Clinical services include intake appointments, case disposition/treatment planning, short-term individual therapy, group counseling, and crisis services.
  • Provide outreach and consultation services to students, faculty, and campus community.
  • Provide training and supervision to externship and APA-Accredited Doctoral Internship training programs.
  • Act in accordance with APA ethics and Florida Laws and Rules.

Minimum Qualifications:

Ph.D. or Psy.D. in Counseling or Clinical Psychology by start date required.

Successfully completed an APA-accredited doctoral internship in psychology prior to start date.

Strong commitment and experience with diverse individuals and communities including but not limited to: students of color, working-class/working-poor populations, first generation students, LGBTQ+ and gender non-conforming clients, people with disabilities.

Demonstrated awareness and value of culturally-responsive mental health practice.

Demonstrated commitment to the highest ethical standards of professional practice.

Candidates must be strong generalists who can provide multimodal psychotherapeutic treatment and prevention interventions to emerging adults.

Candidates must demonstrate competency in their theoretical orientation. They must be versed with providing short-term individual therapy services.

Ideal candidates will demonstrate a strong commitment to challenging the social inequities and injustices which contribute to exclusion, discrimination, marginalization, and oppression.


Desired Qualifications:

University Counseling Center experience in multidisciplinary setting.

Experience and interest in group therapy.

Experience and interest in provision of community level interventions, outreach, consultation.

Professional development training experiences in areas of culturally-responsive counseling, social justice frameworks.

Experience with complex crises and/or clinical situations.

Experience and interest for clinical supervision and training of graduate trainees.

Able to provide training in areas of experience and expertise.

Experience working with Titanium.
