Job Description:

Tenure-Track Full-time Positions in Criminal Justice

The Department of Behavioral Sciences at Dutchess Community College invites applications for a Tenure Track, Full-Time faculty position in Criminal Justice. This opening has an expected start date of August of 2022.

The successful candidate will be expected to guide undergraduate students and be involved in program area, college, and community service. In addition, participation in professional organizations related to criminal justice is desired. We seek candidates who have a professional a background in Criminal Justice or a closely related field, with a concentration in both local law enforcement and federal investigation. Some evening and/or off campus teaching may be required.

Preference will be given to candidates with experience working with or teaching community college students and to those with an understanding and appreciation of the role of the community college in higher education. Preferred candidates should also be able to demonstrate an understanding of the role of assessment in course and program development. Experience with supervision and leadership responsibilities are strongly desired. Candidates should have some experience in using instructional technology in classroom or online adaptations, proficiency with common laboratory instrumentation, and a willingness to adopt new and emerging technologies. A commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion and how diversity impacts learning, and instruction is strongly preferred.

Salary and Benefits:

The salary range for this position is $56,554 - $73,531, and is commensurate with degree level and experience. DCC offers a competitive benefits package. Requirements:

Minimum qualifications include an earned Master's degree in Criminal Justice, or an appropriate sub-discipline of Criminal Justice, and other relevant, prior professional experience.

The ability to teach in the following areas is necessary: issues and trends in terrorism intervention, field-based criminal investigations, including both forensically (processing a crime scene) and interviewing witnesses and suspects.

Qualified candidates should also have the ability to teach computer-based crime, criminal law and procedure, standard criminal justice offerings, and other general education areas served by the department.

Additional Information:

Faculty positions are covered by a collective bargaining agreement between Dutchess Community College and Dutchess United Educators (DUE).
