The School of Education & Human Development at the University of Colorado Denver is seeking nominations and applications for the position of Clinical Assistant Professor in Human Development and Family Relations

The HDFR program is committed to a curriculum rich in family diversity and social justice and ecological systems base human development. The HDFR Program is the first of its kind in the United States to offer bilingual (Spanish and English) HDFR course work.  The HDFR Program is a National Council on Family Relations Certified Family Life Education Program (CFLE). The HDFR Program has also developed one of the newest PhD Programs in North America.  The PhD Program focuses on diverse families and social justice, immigration and migration, family social inequalities and advanced ecological human development and family relations.

The School of Education & Human Development (SEHD) is a leading school of education, providing national expertise on educational issues and socially-just solutions for urban and diverse communities. The SEHD has taken a leadership role in preparing professionals to work in diverse schools, agencies and related settings. The SEHD emphasizes working with multiple types of collaborative partnerships including PK-12 schools, local communities, businesses, government agencies, private foundations, and other universities and colleges. The SEHD was ranked 85th nationally in 2021-22 by US News and World Report.

About CU Denver

Rank: Clinical Assistant Professor 

Position Start Date: August 15, 2022  

Major Responsibilities:

- Teach face-to-face, hybrid, remote and online undergraduate and graduate courses in the Human Development and Family Relations (HDFR) program.

- Infuse family diversity issues and social justice in all undergraduate and graduate level courses.

- Promote the expansion of the program's inclusion of and connection with members of Denver's diverse communities. 

- Participate in faculty meetings; provide committee service in the HDFR program in the School of Education and Human Development. 

Employment Conditions: 

This is a full-time (9-month) academic year clinical teaching position. Opportunity for summer teaching is available. 

Salary and Benefits:

The salary range for this position has been established at $70,000 to $75,000

The salary of the finalist(s) selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to, internal equity, experience, education, specialty and training.

The above salary range (or hiring range) represents the University’s good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting.

This position is not eligible for overtime compensation.

Qualifications
Required Qualifications: 

A doctorate in Human Development and Family Science or closely related Family Studies/Relations discipline. ABD candidates will be considered and would be hired into a Senior Instructor position (at a different salary range) until proof of doctorate is provided.

An academic background with an emphasis in family diversity and ecological systems based human development.

Demonstrated potential for teaching undergraduate and graduate courses in family diversity and social justice, family relations, family dynamics, ecological systems based human development and the general CFLE curriculum.

Commitment to the professional fields of Human Development and Family Science as evidenced by education, teaching and field experience, and professional affiliations such as the National Council on Family Relations, Family Science Association, American Association of Family and Consumer Sciences, the American Association of Marriage and Family Therapy and other organizations.

Applicants must meet minimum qualifications at the time of hire.

Preferred Qualifications: 

Demonstrated competencies/success in teaching undergraduate and graduate courses in family diversity and social justice, family relations, family dynamics, ecological systems based human development and the general CFLE curriculum.

Demonstrated evidence or potential of working with culturally diverse families as it relates to social justice issues in teaching and service.
Experience working with graduate and undergraduate students in instruction and mentoring activities.

Eligible or potential to qualify for the Certification in Family Life Education (CFLE).
