Job Summary Job ID: 238082Position: 40033791 The Department of Chemistry and Physics at Augusta University invites applications for a non-tenure track position of Assistant Professor of Physics and Coordinator of Physics Laboratories. This fiscal-year position to begin in Fall 2022 requires a doctorate in physics or related field. The duties of this position are split between teaching and laboratory support the physics program. The successful candidate shall have a commitment to teaching excellence at all levels to teach lecture and/or laboratory courses in support of the physics curriculum and core curriculum. Support of the physics program may include setup/takedown of equipment relevant to student lab experiments; organization, maintenance, troubleshooting, and minor repairs of physics equipment; coordination with faculty for supplies related to laboratory, lecture demo, and/or outreach materials; coordination with faculty for revision and development of activities such as lab experiments and lecture demonstrations; recruitment, training, scheduling, and oversight of student laboratory assistants; academic advising of physics majors; and leadership for training and safety on physics equipment. The College of Science and Mathematics has master’s programs in Biomolecular Science and in Biological and Computational Mathematics. The department is housed in the College of Science and Mathematics on the Health Science Campus near the Medical College of Georgia, Dental College of Georgia, and Georgia Cancer Center. Augusta Georgia is the cultural center of the region, site of the Masters Golf Tournament, and home of the Georgia Cyber Center. Fort Gordon, home of the U.S. Army’s Signal Corps, Cyber Center of Excellence, Cyber Command, and NSA-Georgia, is located adjacent to the city. The Department of Energy’s Savannah River Site and Savannah River National Laboratory are nearby.Required Qualifications PhD in Physics from an accredited college or university or related practice.Conditions of Employment All candidates are required to successfully pass a Background Check review.
