Clemson University invites applications for a tenure track position at the rank of Assistant Professor to start August 15, 2022. This is a 9-month faculty position.
Responsibilities include beginning through advanced levels of music theory and aural skills and teaching in a secondary area dependent upon candidate qualifications and department needs. The successful candidate will participate fully in departmental activities including recruiting, advising, hearing auditions and juries, attending recitals, concerts, and recruiting events, and working collaboratively with faculty members from the theatre and audio areas in the Performing Arts major.
The Clemson University Department of Performing Arts offers a nationally distinctive Performing Arts BA program. The curriculum offers separate concentrations in music, theatre, and audio technology combining studies in performance, technology, production, theory, and history into a unified program of study. In addition to discipline-specific concentrations, all performing arts students at Clemson take core classes within the major that give each student the tools to be successful collaborators in a wide variety of performing arts professions.
Qualifications:
Required Qualifications: Applicants must have a Ph.D. or other terminal degree in music theory or composition or ABD, strong leadership skills, and a demonstrated ability and desire to teach undergraduate majors and non-majors.
Additional qualifications: teaching experience at the college level or equivalent professional experience; evidence of potential to excel in high-quality scholarly/creative activity; and demonstrated commitment to student recruitment.
