Overview

POSITION SUMMARY: 

Under the general supervision of the Sr. Director of Facilities Engineering and Construction or designated senior facilities management staff, the Facilities Project Manager is responsible for developing program and or design documentation for space assigned by Facilities Management. Work with the facilities architectural and engineering staff on conceptual designs and functional space planning on renovation/construction projects, including the development of plans and specification.

Responsibilities

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Identify and evaluate facilities requirements for space approved for Medical School programs and provide program planning to assist in development of design documentation and construction schedules.
  • Generate conceptual use of space according to client requirements and ensure they meet the institution's standards of design.
  • Obtain, analyze, document and present facility planning/programming information including space usage, occupancy and impact of proposed changes.
  • Develop written documentation outlining planning/programming objectives for assigned facilities renovation and construction projects.
  • Assist design personnel in the implementation of design documents for capital projects as needed using knowledge of architectural or engineering design and technology.
  • Develop and oversee the design and implementation of minor renovation projects.
  • Coordinate activities of in-house trades and outside contractors assigned to projects to ensure compliance to specifications and project completion schedules.
  • Provide engineering/planning support for outside engineering consultants.
  • Undertake such efforts as may be requested or as appropriate with respect to facilities programming and design.
  • Perform other duties as required.
Qualifications

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in engineering with concentration in Architecture, Civil, Electrical, Mechanical or equivalent in experience.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication
  • Two (2) years experience in facilities planning, architectural design, engineering design and/or construction
  • Familiarity with building codes, regulations, and guidelines, which affect research, educational and healthcare
  • Working knowledge of computers, proficiency in Auto CAD systems and engineering/project management software to effectively produce construction design documents, specifications, and schedules.
  • Must have interpersonal skills to effectively work with clients and outside consultants to communicate the impact of design
  • Ability to travel to off-site locations
