GENERAL SUMMARY:

The Senior Business Analyst is the intermediary between the business and IT, using a deep understanding of business strategy, goals, processes, and technology to enable business partners to achieve their desired outcomes.

Responsibilities

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES: 

  • Work with business partners to elicit high-level requirements and capture business needs understanding the customer journey to translate to user stories; may act in the capacity of Product Owner for smaller initiatives/engagements.
  • Identify unarticulated business needs and coordinate between stakeholder groups to address them.
  • Engage with business partners, develop consensus and influence project decisions; assess the risks of various solutions and prioritize competing business demands.
  • Define, implement, and support the most effective and efficient business solutions to deliver on both our client’s requirements and our internal needs.
  • Support enterprise digital strategy and organizational change. Promote architectural consistency and usability standards; define, setup and execute test cases.
  • Create prototypes and co-design with business partners for innovative solutions.
  • Develop plans to evaluate business cost/benefit and feasibility studies with recommendation of best alternatives.
  • Promote new technology opportunities and trends to business partners. Identify opportunities for business-led delivery. Provide consultative support on business-led technology initiatives.
  • Coach employees to make use of technology and information.
  • Participate extensively (via committee membership or individual interviewing) in the needs assessment and system requirement process of all business and clinical applications development and implementation.
  • Direct and manage the on-going project implementation systems to ensure that quality, delivery, and time management goals are met.
  • Work closely with users to implement related system configurations on business or clinical applications and support ongoing system administration, communications, troubleshooting, defect tracking and reporting needs.
  • Ensure development of policies and procedures for new and existing systems, including application and end user documentation and training.
  • Understand and convey business context for information and data analysis requirements to delivery teams.
  • Evaluate requests for system enhancements, upgrades and interfaces with vendors and provide support including environment management, release testing and deployment.
  • Responsible for all aspects of the program development cycle from project definition through system implementation. Develop and control project plan and coordinate resources to accomplish project objectives.
  • Develop, adapt, and facilitate scrums including backlog grooming through all sprints of product release phases and capable of serving as acting Scrum Master as necessary.
  • Monitor project status and provide periodic status reports.
  • Proactively monitor industry, functional and technology trends; educate business partners on emerging digital trends and opportunities to create business value from technology.
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to handle multiple products or projects concurrently.
  • Perform other duties as required or assigned.
Qualifications

REQUIRED EDUCATIONBachelor’s level degree in Computer Science, Information Systems Management, or equivalent experience.REQUIRED WORK EXPERIENCE9 years of broad IT domain experience, in three or more of the following areas: Business Analysis, Applications Development, Enterprise Architecture, Project Management, Vendor Management or Quality AssuranceDemonstrated examples of defining, implementing and supporting the most effective and efficient business solutions that delivered upon a client’s requirements and internal needsDemonstrated knowledge of both traditional Waterfall and Agile/Lean SDLC methodologiesExperience in converting business requirements and functional requirements to use cases, epics, and user stories with acceptance criteriaDemonstrated ability to work among multiple constituencies and complex environmentsDemonstrated ability to engage both developers and business partners to achieve target outcomesStrong risk assessment, problem resolution, negotiation, and influencing skillsDemonstrated examples of innovation, flexibility, creativity engaging and empowered throughout the delivery cycleDemonstrated ability to quantify resource requirements, as well as, measure and communicate proposed project benefitsProduct level understanding of the needs of customers, users, roadmap, and future trends PREFERRED WORK EXPERIENCEStrong business acumen having experience within a business functionExperience within or on behalf of a Clinical, Health Insurance Payor or Hospital organizationPrior consulting experienceDemonstrated Business Relationship Management, Business Process Management or Business Architecture/Capability PlanningDemonstrated experience with SAFe Agile methodology with innovation & planning Familiarity with road mapping tools such as Aha or Agile delivery tools such as TFS
