JOB PURPOSE:The LOCKSS Program makes the award-winning distributed digital preservation LOCKSS software platform, used widely by libraries and publishers to preserve and provide persistent, authoritative access to digital content. It is a core part of the portfolio of open-source digital library software supported by Stanford Libraries in collaboration with the broader community. Stanford Libraries' efforts on these fronts are recognized internationally, and have a major programmatic impact on the operations of libraries and repositories worldwide.

The LOCKSS Program is seeking a community and partnerships manager. The LOCKSS Community Manager will join the LOCKSS Program leadership and become a familiar external face of the LOCKSS Program in the community, facilitating business and technical discussions with new and prospective end user communities, adopters, and community partners. They will play a pivotal role interfacing between the LOCKSS Program staff and the international scholarly community, in applying and building LOCKSS technologies and approaches to meet distributed digital preservation needs. They will also be responsible for relationship management with stakeholders, by ensuring continuity in interpersonal and organizational contact, and organizing and participating in community events (webinars, conferences, trainings).

CORE DUTIES:
  • Translate business processes into system requirements and/or development of systems solutions.
  • Analyze new business requirements, assist with feasibility of enhancement requests, system functionality, current system use and user needs.
  • Develop instructional materials, training and job aids.
  • Advise users requiring assistance in solving complex problems or issues regarding management and business systems.
  • Analyze data and provide data sets to users for analysis. May include development of operational and analytical reports for end users.
  • Liaise with external vendors or partners in support of business systems, which may include system development, implementation and/or operations.
  • Coordinate the implementation of new or modified business systems.
  • Execute product/program plan definition, and detailed rollout schedule, including collaboration with internal stakeholders.
  • Develop and execute a marketing plan, assessing, and revising as necessary to meet goals.
  • Implement conversion strategy to meet product/program goals.
  • Deliver an experience that leads to high customer satisfaction and advocacy for the program.
  • Conduct analysis and make recommendations regarding the direction of the program or product.
  • Actively participates in efforts to improve processes, programs and business across the department.
  • Coordinate with vendors and consultants on specific programs.

    MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

    Education & Experience:

    Bachelor's degree and five years relevant experience or a combination of education and relevant experience.

    Relevant Experience May Include:

  • Experience in the areas of digital preservation, Web archiving, digital libraries, scholarly communications, or open source software communities.

    Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
  • Knowledge of, computer system capabilities, business processes, and work flow.
  • Experience with enterprise applications and understanding of database driven applications.
  • Strong understanding of the software development life cycle.
  • Knowledge of principles and techniques used in conducting management studies and in systems analysis.
  • Current knowledge of rapidly changing computer technology.
  • Skill in conducting interviews and facilitating group meetings.
  • Skill in developing and conducting training programs.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, including the ability to bridge functional and technical resources by communicating effectively with individuals of varying systems expertise and business needs.
  • Strong listening, negotiation and conflict resolution skills.
  • Ability to design and document complex business systems.
  • Proven problem solving and analytical thinking and ability to approach problems logically and systematically.
    Relevant Knowledge, Skills and Abilities May Include:
  • Experience with managing products/programs.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Knowledge of various marketing elements (e.g. pricing, audience, channels, communication).
  • Ability to work independently to meet expected deadlines and schedules.
  • Demonstrated ability to understand the target audience life cycle and ability to convert leads into new business.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
    Physical Requirements*:
  • Constantly perform desk-based computer tasks.
  • Frequently sit, grasp lightly/fine manipulation.
  • Occasionally stand/walk, use a telephone.
  • Rarely writing by hand, lift/carry/push/pull objects that weigh up to 10 pounds.
