Description
Post-Doctoral Research Associate-  Quantum Magnetism (Two positions)

The experimental quantum magnetism group at the University of Tennessee is seeking candidates for two postdoctoral positions working on quantum magnetism using neutron scattering and machine learning. The group is actively involved in searching for novel quantum quasiparticles in condensed matter systems. Work focuses on highly entangled quantum states of matter in low dimensional and frustrated magnets as well as topological semimetals.

The successful applicants will undertake experiment and advanced data analysis based on neutron scattering and in house thermodynamic and transport measurements. Materials growth laboratories are also available for making and characterizing samples. The candidates will play leading roles in new experiments and data analysis, working with Prof. Alan Tennant, particularly in searches for quantum spin liquids and magnetically controllable topological semimetals. They will also have the opportunity to work with graduate students. Applicants should have a strong record of accomplishments in scattering from quantum magnetic or topological materials and/or application of large-scale modeling and data analytics to quantum condensed matter.
