Description
The Program in Public Health is seeking outstanding epidemiology candidates to join our dynamic, multidisciplinary team. The new hire will be expected to teach and mentor students in the MPH and/or doctoral programs, establish a funded research program and contribute to the mission of the Program in Public Health. Each successful candidate will hold a tenure-track appointment in an academic department that best suits his/her expertise; affiliation is also possible with the Stony Brook Cancer Center, Alan Alda Center for Communicating Science, Brookhaven National Lab, Cold Spring Harbor Lab, etc.

The Program in Public Health is an accredited MPH program, designed to be a small, highly selective program, admitting 35-50 new students each year. Researchers in Public Health work with collaborators across the campus to ensure that education and research are integrative and dynamic. The Program in Public Health aims to produce creative, critical thinkers who will effect positive social change. The Program in Public Health is highly selective and it is accredited by the Council on Education for Public Health (CEPH).


Qualifications
Required Qualifications
Possess a Ph.D. or other relevant doctoral degree (e.g., Dr.PH., M.D.) by the expected start date. Active research program in epidemiology or applied biostatistics. We strongly encourage candidates with experience in infectious disease epidemiology to apply. Those who model infectious disease dynamics or conduct infectious diseases health outcomes research are also welcome to apply. Independent research agenda and capacity to publish and secure external funding.

Preferred Qualifications
Preference will be given to exceptional candidates who could build collaborations across existing faculty. Candidates should have a robust research agenda and passion for improving population health. The program creates a collaborative research environment, and is looking for candidates who can complement and/or enhance our core areas of strength. These include: health disparities research, aging, trauma, child/adolescent global health, clinical outcomes research, and health services research. The Program also has a strong focus on methodological skills, including causal inference/methods, applied econometrics, intervention research/pragmatic trials and implementation science. Successful candidates will be expected to work on population health projects that bring together people with diverse backgrounds. Candidates should be committed to teaching and mentoring students, and be able to demonstrate the ability to teach effectively at the graduate level.

Tenure Track position. FLSA Exempt position, not eligible for the overtime provisions of the FLSA. To qualify for a tenure faculty appointment, the candidate must meet the criteria established by the School of Medicine (School of Medicine's Criteria for Appointment, Promotion and Tenure).
