Job Summary Job ID# 237850Position # 40033349 Augusta University’s Department of Social Sciences and its Bachelor of Criminal Justice Program invite applicants for a tenure-track position at the rank of Assistant Professor beginning August 2022. We invite social scientists in the interdisciplinary field of criminal justice to apply for a tenure-track assistant professor position in criminal justice. The successful candidate will teach courses in our criminal justice program and potentially in the criminal justice track in the Department’s Master of Public Administration program and produce research in their areas of expertise. Candidates should demonstrate a strong commitment to teaching including integrating experiential learning, potential for excellence in research including securing grants, and a potential interest in online instruction. This is a tenure-track position at the rank of assistant professor as determined by research/scholarly publication records and academic achievements. Augusta University is a student-centered comprehensive research university and academic health center with over 9,000 students and 1,200 faculty members committed to providing leadership and excellence in teaching, discovery, clinical care, and service. The Department of Social Sciences includes over 350 majors in undergraduate degrees in Criminal Justice; Health, Society, and Policy; Nonprofit Leadership and Administration; Political Science; Sociology; and Social Work along with Masters programs in Public Administration and Intelligence and Security Studies. Our Criminal Justice program has over 100 current majors and four full-time faculty members. Our faculty have established connections across the university and larger Augusta community, are involved in interdisciplinary collaborations, and engage community-based organizations in their research, teaching, and service. Required Qualifications The successful candidate must have:
  • A doctorate in Criminal Justice, Criminology, Sociology or a related field from an accredited college or university
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience teaching face-to-face and online is preferred
  • An. established record or demonstrated potential for high quality, original scholarship that is appropriate to the discipline and shows promise of continuation through a viable and coherent research agenda.
  • Ability to teach coursework in the Department’s Criminal Justice program (all specializations and subfields within Criminal Justice and/or Criminology will be considered).
