Human ResourcesJob DescriptionSmith College seeks an experienced talent acquisition professional to lead the strategy to attract the highest quality candidates and support the college mission and strategic plans. We are looking for a creative leader with a passion for creating and executing on college recruitment strategies and generating a talent pipeline. You will oversee all phases of the recruitment and selection life cycle including sourcing, attraction, recruiting, offer and onboarding.
Responsibilities:
Strategy Creation and Execution:
Create and execute on a recruiting strategy that promotes employer brand, diversity sourcing, and interview process management
Create and oversee processes to work with the hiring manager and Human Resources Partners to review employment requisitions and develop targeted recruitment strategies to find the best qualified candidates
Oversee the creation of Smith’s internal temporary agency and relationships with external temporary agencies
Develop and manage relationships, contracts, etc. with external search firms, seeking new partnerships and negotiating rates as necessary. Oversee decisions relating to utilization of firms.
Recruitment and Campus Relationships:
Stay informed of the latest recruiting trends and apply innovative recruiting/sourcing techniques to ensure competitive state-of-the-art recruiting practices
Screen, interview, prepare candidate summaries, work with search committees and negotiate offers for executive level openings
Educate and advise managers on appropriate interview techniques and protocol, search committee oversight, offer negotiation, and other facets of the recruitment and hiring process
Conduct regular follow-up with managers and HR partners to determine effectiveness of recruiting plans, in partnership with the recruiting team
Process creation and Implementation:
Accountable for HR website content in areas related to the talent acquisition process; the posting site, manager toolkit, etc.
Lead improvement of recruitment related policies, practices, and procedures
Ensure college and legal compliance with staffing procedures
Manage the visa process for college staff and stay up to date with laws and policies
Data and Analysis:
Oversight of the tracking and reporting of recruiting activities (candidates, open requisitions, applicant files, interviews, etc.) and key metrics designed to measure recruiting activities and quality of hires. Communicate to stakeholders through appropriate channels.
Work closely with Sr. HR and Workforce Analyst to identify trends and create dashboards
Leadership:
Provide outstanding people management skills to lead the talent acquisition team; mentoring, developing, and fostering a culture of continuous learning and improvement
Lead talent acquisition department huddles, sharing data and metrics and ensuring the team is copasetic regarding prioritization of roles, fill dates and capacity management
Act as informal leader in the recruitment space, providing guidance, best practices and partnership to college hiring managers
Lead and participate in strategic HR related projects
Other duties may be assigned or required for the performance of this position
Participate in the college’s efforts to create a respectful, inclusive and welcoming work environment.
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree plus five years of experience in talent acquisition
Minimum two years of experience leading teams
Demonstrated success in the following areas:
Clear understanding of end to end recruitment life cycle processes
Demonstrated expertise in leading sourcing work
Strong leadership skills and ability to inspirationally and operationally lead a team
Relationship building and influencing skills
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Ability to manage competing demands while being extremely adaptable and flexible; must be organized and able to prioritize
Demonstrated ability to continuously improve processes
Thorough knowledge of employment laws, and other government compliance regulations that affect recruitment, selection, and employment
Experience working with Applicant Tracking Systems (ATS)
