This is a non-tenure track, Assistant/Associate Clinical Professor, academic year position based in Flagstaff, Arizona, in the Department of Educational Specialties. The successful applicant must be a BCBA or BCBA-D. The appointment will begin in the Fall 2022 academic semester. The Department of Educational Specialties is located within the College of Education and offers undergraduate and graduate programs in special education, career and technical education, bilingual and multicultural education, and educational technology. Students enroll in the PBS Graduate Certificate program from across the United States.

Job Description

The Department of Educational Specialties (ESP) is seeking to fill a non-tenure track faculty position at the Assistant/Associate Clinical Professor level with expertise in Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) at the Flagstaff Mountain campus beginning in August 2022. The position is a 9-month non-tenure track faculty line with the opportunity for summer teaching. Candidates need to demonstrate a commitment to excellence to teaching diverse students in higher education.

The Positive Behavior Support (PBS) Graduate Certificate program is an ABAI Verified Course Sequence (VCS) for the 5^th edition Task List of the Behavior Analyst Certification Board. The 21-unit online program is taken by individuals across the United States who want to become a Board Certified Behavior Analyst®. The PBS courses can be completed as a stand-alone certificate program or as part of the M.Ed. in Special Education (Non-Certification), M.Ed. in Elementary Education (Non-Certification), or Ed.S. in School Psychology. The graduate-level courses are 100% online and asynchronous to maximize opportunities for students to achieve their educational and career goals.

Responsibilities:

Teach online graduate classes in Applied Behavior Analysis and Positive Behavior Support in the VCSCollaborate with other faculty in updating, revising, and delivering high-quality online coursework
1. Recruit and advise students in the PBS program while working collaboratively with university departments to promote the admission and matriculation of students
2. Fulfill service responsibilities to the department, college, university, and the profession
Assist with the development and implementation of goals and strategies related to the Positive Behavior Support Graduate Certificate program as delineated by ABAI and NAU policies and practicesParticipate in the development and management of a quality assessment within the Positive Behavior Support Graduate Certificate Collaborate with the VCS coordinator to maintain ABAI verification and explore ABAI accreditation

Minimum Qualifications
Candidates for the Assistant Clinical Professor position MUST have:

1. An earned doctorate in Special Education, Psychology, Applied Behavior Analysis or related field from a regionally accredited institution. ABD candidates may be considered only if they will have their degree by the start date.
2. A current Board-Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) credential.
3. Demonstrated ability to integrate technology into teaching including experience with online delivery of higher education and associated support systems (can include college teaching as a graduate assistant).

Candidates for the Associate Clinical Professor position MUST have all the above, plus current status as associate professor or the equivalent of 6-years’ experience as assistant professor.

Preferred Qualifications

1. Ability/experience or strong interest in recruiting, advising, and mentoring graduate students
Experience teaching undergraduate or graduate level courses in-person, blended, or online courses in applied behavior analysisExperience in networking/collaborating within and across disciplines within the profession
2. Experience with program development and assessment toward verification and/or accreditation
3. Demonstrated efficacy in working with people from a variety of diverse backgrounds (e.g., culture, gender/sexuality, language, disability, class); and appreciation of the diversity of rural and southwest communities
4. Experience promoting community engagement, educational justice, and/or equitable access to contextually appropriate behavioral interventions

Background Information

Northern Arizona University requires satisfactory results for the following: a criminal background investigation, an employment history verification and a degree verification (in some cases) prior to employment. You may also be required to complete a fingerprint background check. This is a Faculty (FAC) position. NAU offers an excellent benefit package including generous health, dental and vision insurance; participation in the Arizona State Retirement System (ASRS) or the Optional Retirement Program (ORP); sick leave accruals and 10 holidays per year; and tuition reduction for employees and qualified family members. Employees offered a position will be eligible for state health plans (including NAU's BCBS Plan). Employees will have 31 days from date of hire to enroll in benefits, and their benefits will then be effective the first day of the pay period following their completed enrollment. If a new employee chooses the Arizona State Retirement System (ASRS) retirement option, participation in the ASRS Plan (and the long-term disability coverage that accompanies it) will begin on the first of the pay period following 183 days of employment. New employees who choose to participate in the Optional Retirement Plan (ORP; an alternative to the ASRS plan) will begin to participate on the first day of employment. The long-term disability plan that accompanies the ORP will begin on the first day of the pay period following 90 days of employment.
