The University of Connecticut, College of Agriculture, Health and Natural Resources (CAHNR) seeks applicants for a full-time position as Administrative Program Support 2 for the Associate Deans of Research & Graduate Studies and Extension & Diversity. CAHNR works to ensure a sustainable global future through research, teaching, and public engagement utilizing agricultural, health, and environmental sciences. Under the supervision of the Associate Dean of Research & Graduate Studies, the Program Support 2 position is responsible for all administrative support activities for both Associate Deans and their programmatic staff.


  1. Provide direct administrative support for the two Associate Deans and their programmatic staff.
  2. Maintain records and prepare necessary reports that require an understanding of the office programs and administrative operations.
  3. Coordinate communication with CAHNR’s Office of the Dean and departments; and networking with other departments in the university.
  4. Provide administrative support to CAHNR’s Office of the Dean as needed.
  5. Provide calendar management, logistical support, and schedule in-person and virtual meetings for the Associate Deans.
  6. Manage purchasing activities for the Associate Deans with appropriate authority to approve purchase requests through Husky Buy. Maintain an inventory of supplies and equipment.
  7. Manage HR functions related to hiring, special payroll, and student labor.
  8. Supervise student staff; determine work assignments and work schedules to most effectively meet office needs.
  9. Plan, coordinate, and execute events to include space, food, publicity, travel, and other technical and administrative logistics.
  10. Manage all travel arrangements for the Associate Deans including reservations and reimbursements of expenditures.
  11. Update relevant websites on behalf of the Associate Deans.
  12. Oversee finances for the Associate Deans including supply and equipment purchases.
  13. Oversee implementation of the annual Extension Summer Internship program.
  14. Coordinate leadership training for faculty and staff in CAHNR.
  15. Perform related duties as required.


  1. Bachelor’s degree and two years of related experience OR an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  2. Demonstrated ability to work effectively with communication technologies and social media.
  3. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite including Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, and Word.
  4. Demonstrated sensitivity towards diverse audiences.
  5. Demonstrated experience providing organizational support in a team environment.
  6. Excellent organizational skills.
  7. Ability to work independently and in a team setting while regularly exercising sound judgment regarding administrative detail and procedures.
  8. Ability to problem-solve, expertly manage time and deadlines, and skillfully juggle priorities.
  9. Clear, positive, and professional written, verbal, and non-verbal communication skills.
  10. Excellent interpersonal skills, with proven ability to establish good working relationships with coworkers and a variety of constituents, inside and outside the University.

  1. Minimum of four to five years of administrative support experience.
  2. Knowledge of and familiarity working with the land grant university system and the Cooperative Extension System.
  3. Knowledge of and experience working with land grant capacity funding programs.
  4. Experience working with UConn administrative processes including KFS (Kuali Financial Systems), Huskybuy, Concur and Handshake, PageUp, or other enterprise systems.
  5. Experience in compiling and organizing data, creating reports, and updating existing websites.

This is a full-time, twelve-month, UCPEA staff position with an excellent benefits package. Salary will be commensurate with the successful candidate’s background and experience.
