The Culverhouse College of Business at The University of Alabama invites applications for one tenure track Applied Statistics faculty position at the assistant professor level with an expected start date of August 16, 2022.

Candidates must hold a Doctorate in Statistics or a closely related field. Candidates with research interests in Bayesian statistics, spatial analysis, and computational statistics are preferred, but researchers with expertise in other areas are encouraged to submit their application materials as well. Current Assistant Professors will be given full consideration. Accepted peer-reviewed journal articles or potential for publishing in high quality statistics journals is expected. Previous teaching experience is highly desirable. An ability and willingness to contribute to the existing Master of Science in business analytics program is a plus but is not required.

The applied statistics group, within the Department of Information Systems, Statistics, and Management Science, currently has 9 tenured or tenure-track faculty members and offers M.S. and Ph.D. degrees in Applied Statistics. Founded in 1831 and located in the historic city of Tuscaloosa, The University of Alabama is the main campus of the university system and the largest in the state with a total enrollment of over 38,500 students. The Culverhouse College of Commerce, founded in 1919, now includes over 9,150 students and 150 faculty members. With a metropolitan population of about 125,000, the Tuscaloosa area offers excellent quality of life with many cultural and outdoor activities.
