The Science and Mathematics Department at Texas A&M University – Central Texas is seeking applicants for a tenure-track assistant professor position in Mechanical Engineering Technology. The successful candidate will be expected to teach mechanical engineering technology classes such as applied thermodynamics, fluid dynamics, heat transfer, manufacturing processes, and solid modeling. Prior teaching experience with undergraduates and post-doctoral research is desirable. A Ph.D. in mechanical engineering or mechanical engineering technology or related field is required. Minimum qualifications: Ph.D. in mechanical engineering, mechanical engineering technology or related field
Preferred qualifications: Undergraduate teaching experience and post-doctoral research
Job summary/Basic Function: Responsibilities include teaching undergraduate courses in engineering, conducting research, advising students, serving in departmental and university committees, and other duties as assigned

Description of Job Responsibility/Duty:
Teaches a variety of undergraduate level classes in the Mechanical Engineering Technology program, various engineering electives, and other classes as needed. Writes syllabi for the courses to be taught using the approved format of the College of Arts and Sciences. Meets with students enrolled in their classes when students need additional assistance with class material and assignments. Teaches twenty-four workload credits each academic year. Summer semester teaching is negotiated on an as needed basis.
Carries out additional requirements of engineering faculty including:
- Pursues a research agenda and publishes in peer-reviewed journals,
- Conducts learning outcome measures on all courses taught to assist in maintaining accreditation,
- Attends university and college faculty meetings
- Serves on university committees as requested or assigned by Provost
- Approximately once a year, attends and/or presents at conferences to strengthen teaching knowledge and credentials
Provides academic advising to current or potential students in mechanical engineering technology.
Other duties as assigned.
