Position Summary:

The HR Specialist for Recruitment & Talent Acquisition, under the leadership of the Director of Recruitment & Talent Acquisition, is responsible for the analysis, review and administration of the Connecticut State Colleges & Universities (CSCU) recruitment and hiring strategies, procedures, and policies of non-represented Management/Confidential personnel, and unclassified and classified bargaining unit employees at the community colleges and CSCU System Office.

Incumbents must possess proven ability to effectively work with a culturally, linguistically, and ethnically diverse faculty, staff, and student. They are expected to have excellent oral and written communication skills along with strong Information technology literacy skills such as Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams etc.)

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources Management, Business Management, Public Administration, or related field.

Successful Candidate must have or must possess:

  • Three (3) or more years’ working experience in the principles, practices, and techniques of recruitment and talent acquisition.
  • Working knowledge of online job application software.
  • Experience with JobAps, CORE-CT.
  • Experience working in higher education recruitment.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Two (2) years’ experience in AA/EEOO Compliance or working in the areas of Diversity and Inclusion.
  • Two (2) years of experience organizing job fairs and reaching out in social media type recruiting.
  • One (1) or more years working in a high-paced office setting.
Example of Job Duties:

Under the direction of the Director of Recruitment & Talent Acquisition or other Administrator, the HR Specialist for Recruitment & Talent will serve as the principal recruiter and search administrator of the Community Colleges and CSCU System Office by effective performance in these essential duties:

  • Performs searches for qualified job candidates, using sources such as computer databases, networking, internet recruiting resources including social media, job fairs, recruiting firms, or employee referrals across college campuses and the CSCU System Office.
  • Review’s employment applications to assist campus search committees in determining those applicants who meet minimum job qualifications including required licensing and/or certification credentials.
  • Charges search committees with affirmative action goals in coordination with the Affirmative Action/Equal Employment Opportunity COE and provides search committees a review of CSCU recruiting procedures and practices.
  • Informs job applicants of details such as duties and responsibilities, work schedules, working conditions, and promotion opportunities; and liaisons with the Compensation, Benefits, and HR Admin COE in communicating appropriate compensation and benefits information.
  • Prepares CSCU internal and public job postings.

Starting Salary:

$62,003-$77,504 (midpoint) approximate annual plus excellent State of CT medical insurance, retirement, and related fringe benefits. Salary Range for this level is $63,003-$93,005.
