Job Description

The Health Related Professions Department is seeking applicants for a full- time, tenure-track position.

Primary job responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
  • Provide didactic and/or laboratory instruction in the Associate HIT program; provide clinical supervision at multiple sites with varied shifts.
  • Develop syllabi and course materials; participate in program and curriculum development.
  • Evaluate student mastery of skills and competencies required by course outcomes.
  • Maintain office hours for student advisement; participate in recruitment activities, community service, and professional development.


Required Qualifications
  • Baccalaureate degree in Health Information Management, Health Care Administration, Education, or equivalent health care related field, from a regionally accredited College or University
  • Current RHIT (Registered Health Information Technician) or RHIA (Registered Health Information Administrator) credential
  • Minimum 5 years work experience in HIM profession
  • Experience with an online learning management system
  • Active membership in American Health Information Management Association


Preferred Qualifications
  • Master's Degree in HIM, Education, Public Health, Health Care Administration or equivalent, from regionally accredited College or University
  • Membership in other healthcare professional organizations
  • Prior teaching experience in Health Information Technology or equivalent program.


Starting Salary Range

Initial salary placement is based on educational level and total years of full-time equivalent teaching experience. For example, for an instructor with a Master's degree the salary range would be $46,691 to $58,364 annually. The entire salary range is up to $70,038 annually with a Doctorate and 10 years' experience. A maximum of 10 years of experience will be considered for the initial salary placement purposes.

Due to the current health and safety emergency declaration, anyone hired must receive a complete (and verified) COVID-19 vaccination series or an approved medical or religious waiver request as a term and condition of employment prior to any start date at any Nevada System of Higher Education (NSHE) institution.

Out of Area/State Candidates may be offered travel reimbursement with original itemized receipts and in accordance with GSA rates at time of travel.

Bargaining unit Faculty members hired are eligible for relocation expenses reimbursement in accordance with the College of Southern Nevada Faculty Contract CSN-NFA Contract 2020-22.
