Job Description The Social Sciences Department at Centralia College invites applications for full-time, tenure-track Sociology instructor at the Assistant Professor level beginning Fall Quarter, 2022.

Duties and Responsibilities

Teaching sociology courses, including Introduction to Sociology and Social Problems. Teach courses covering family, race, ethnicity, class, gender, sexuality, cultural, and/or inequality studies concepts.Teach junior and senior level classes in our Bachelor’s of Applied Science in Behavioral Healthcare.Develop and implement curriculum in the field of sociology based on culturally-responsive pedagogical strategies.Advise and mentor students in support of the college’s guided pathways framework.Utilize data and research to participate in curriculum and program assessment as part of the overall accreditation requirements.Participate in professional development activities in sociology and other related fields.Attend faculty and committee meetings in accordance with the faculty negotiated agreement.Provide leadership for and engagement in campus-wide efforts involving justice, equity, diversity, and inclusion.Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Master of Arts in Sociology or closely related field.Demonstrated teaching ability.Background or prior experience that shows work in justice, equity, diversity, and inclusion.

Preferred Qualifications

Ph.D in Sociology or closely related field.Experience in academic advising.Experience teaching in a community college setting.

Compensation
Placement on the established faculty salary schedule is dependent upon education and teaching experience.
