A.T. Still University's Kirksville College of Osteopathic Medicine (ATSU-KCOM) is seeking a part-time Director of Student Medical Education (DSME) on the Kirksville, Missouri campus. This position is primary faculty at a core clinical training site and is responsible for supervising and directing the clinical education of KCOM third and fourth year medical students. This position is responsible for making decisions that will maximize the clinical experience for students as a whole, managing emergent needs of clinical rotations, and coordinating the curriculum delivery within the region. The position performs as a mentor, educator, and evaluator of KCOM core assigned medical students at the region.

Major Job Duties

  • Mentor students
  • Campus presence when needed
  • Grade/score student assessments
  • Participate in regional activities
  • Utilize, support, and direct students to follow KCOM procedures and practices
  • Lead the region site


  • Must have a DO or MD degree
  • Must have strong communication, technology, and leadership skills
  • Must be a problem solver
  • Must be positive, flexible, compassionate, organized, and approachable
  • Must have an interest in education
  • Leadership experience is desired
  • Medical Education experience is desired
