Position Purpose:

The position is responsible for the investigation and management of workers’ compensation claims in compliance with applicable statutes, rules, regulations and policy provisions. The Specialist will support the administration of Dartmouth’s insurance program through managing workers’ compensation claims and providing underwriting support, evaluate and resolve claims in a timely manner in compliance with applicable statutes, rules, regulations and policy provisions.

3+ years of experience

  • Computer literacy, including working knowledge of MS Office Product Suite,
  • Ability to travel for business purposes, approximately less than 5%

  • New Hampshire WC Adjuster’s License is required

Claims Duties

  • Timely investigate assigned claims consistent with industry best practices.
  • Determine compensability and issue prompt payment or denial within statutory requirements.
  • Complete and file all applicable state mandated forms.
  • Determine potential subrogation and second injury fund recovery
  • Evaluate exposure and establish appropriate reserves with supporting rationale.
  • Communicate frequently with injured workers to maintain appropriate case management.
  • Collaboratively work with Dartmouth departmental supervisors to execute return to work strategies
  • Establish and implement pro-active action plans to facilitate case resolution.
  • Achieve appropriate balance between allocated expenses and loss outcome.
  • Review medical/vendor bills and issue timely payments consistent with payment protocols
  • Negotiate settlements within granted authority.
  • Attend hearings and appeals as required.
  • Identify and monitor claims requiring reporting to excess carriers.
  • Demonstrate technical proficiency through timely, consistent execution of claim management best practices
  • Distribute and ensure compliance with all workers’ compensation posting rules and regulations
  • Identify and implement loss control strategies
  • Keep abreast of jurisdictional requirements, applicable case law and insurance best pratices
  • Establish and maintain close working relationships with services providers and legal counsel
  • Support the insurance renewal and underwriting activities of the Office
  • Support and repsent the Office in other areas as needed
