Job Description:

The Associate Director, Annual Philanthropy and Alumni Engagement will lead a suite of annual giving solicitations targeting IIE’s donor and prospective donor base, with a concentration on engaging IIE alumni. The Philanthropy team is a tight knit, collaborative, can-do team. We move fast and take the donor experience seriously. The Associate Director will develop and execute strategies for direct mail and email appeals, draft appeal messages in collaboration with team members, and manage crowdfunding and social media giving campaigns with the goal of increasing the number of annual fund donors and retaining donors year over year. The role is also responsible for building and strengthening IIE’s alumni network by developing short and long-term strategies to engage alumni especially around IIE priorities and initiatives, creating an inclusive and enriching community for alumni, and cultivating a culture of philanthropy among alumni. The Associate Director will identify and define key alumni segments, develop communications plans and programming ideas, and work in collaboration with the Philanthropy team and IIE Communications to implement fundraising and engagement strategies.

Essential Functions:

Creates and implements multi-year plans and measures strategies for multi-channel fundraising appeals.

Writes and executes appeals via direct mail, email, crowdfunding, and social media.

Collaborates across departments including Program teams, Communications, Marketing, the Office of the President and external venders to design and integrate fundraising and engagement messages.

Assists in developing and implementing IIE’s overall fundraising strategy, including setting PO goals and objectives.

Ideates and implements strategy to engage IIE alumni of privately funded programs and initiatives.

Leads all communication with alumni including emails, newsletters and other campaigns for the purpose of capturing data, sharing alumni impact stories, engaging, and recognizing alumni, and soliciting alumni.

Builds and monitors the IIE alumni database.

Job Requirements:

Education and Work Experience:

Bachelor’s degree and five years’ experience in Philanthropy or 9 years’ experience within a Philanthropy Office.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

Demonstrated success managing annual funds for a non-profit

History of experience with engaging alumni or other affiliated groups that closely identify with the organization.

Excellent written and verbal communications skills

Demonstrated ability to craft compelling messages

Familiarity with planned giving marketing and vehicles is preferred
