Job Summary
Columbus State University seeks to hire a cohort of two Tenure-Track Assistant Professors with documented teaching and scholarship in Africa and African Diaspora Studies. These two tenure-track position lines will be in the Department of History and Geography: 1) Assistant Professor of Geography and 2) Assistant Professor of History. The start date for both positions is August 1, 2022.

Responsibilities
Responsibilities include a 4/4 load, teaching lower and upper division courses in their respective fields each semester; mentoring and advising students; fostering an environment of professionalism and collaboration; working continuously to improve history and geography education; and engaging in practices that support the University's focus on student engagement and active learning.

Required Qualifications
Candidates for the Assistant Professor of Geography position must have a Ph.D in Geography and candidates for the Assistant Professor of History position must have a Ph.D in History. Both candidates must demonstrate potential for continued professional development, scholarship, and community engagement. Strong ABD candidates will be considered, but degree must be in hand by the start date.

Preferred Qualifications
Preference will be given to candidates who have University teaching experience; experience in Digital Humanities; and, for the Assistant Professor of Geography position, the ability to teach GIS and a research interest in Black Geographies.

Applications for part-time and full-time faculty positions must include transcripts of all academic work, and official transcripts must be presented prior to campus visit if selected for interview. Applicants must have the ability to meet Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC) requirements, in particular a minimum of 18 graduate hours in the teaching discipline.
