Description
The University of Tennessee System invites applications for a Contract Specialist with Procurement Services. The salary for this position is non-negotiable at $58,578.00

Procurement Services assists departments and units throughout the University of Tennessee System with the purchase of goods and services, and this position's primary duty is to review, edit, and negotiate contracts for the university. 

The Contract Specialist will perform the following duties in fulfillment of the role:

    Review, edit, and negotiate delegated and non-delegated contracts on behalf of the University in accordance with fiscal policyDraft contracts and memoranda for exceptions to fiscal policyRespond to contract questions from vendors and University departmentsServe as an instructor for the System-wide contract-management system as neededPerform other related duties as required

Education:   

A bachelor’s degree is required. 

Experience:    

A minimum of two years of experience in a professional office environment is required. At least one year of experience interpreting and/or drafting technical or contract language is also required.

Experience with technical writing, contract review, contract drafting, or related work is desired. Intermediate technology skills including at least one year of experience using Microsoft Word software, especially MS Word and Outlook is required. Experience with SAP or other ERP systems is a plus.

A valid driver’s license and the ability to travel frequently is also required.

    Strong customer service skills and the ability to equally balance compliance and customer service to deliver services in a professional, timely mannerOutstanding organizational skillsThe ability to exercise independent judgmentThe ability to read and accurately interpret legal language, regulations, and policiesThe ability to negotiate with attorneys or representing suppliersThe ability to manage high volume workloads accurately and effectively in a deadline-driven environmentStrong communication skills including public speakingExcellent written communication skills including familiarity with standard English writing Knowledge of Adobe Pro or similar document reader
