The Program Director manages the instructors and the educational activities of the department and all classes . The Program Director will be responsible for the applicable accreditation commission standards including JRCERT programmatic accreditation, curriculum development, and faculty hiring. In addition to teaching, the Program Director will be responsible for establishing program admissions criteria, hiring and supervising staff, and approving the admissions of new students. Additionally, the chair must establish and maintain relationships with area hospitals and other healthcare organizations to solicit clinical sites and advisory board members.

Program Directing

  • Be the point of contact with JCERT in obtaining and managing JRCERT programmatic accreditation
  • Work with contractors and vendors to develop an educational space with equipment to support high school teaching and learning at JRCERT standards
  • Develop the curriculum according to JRCERT standards
  • Secure /renew contracts from clinical education affiliations
  • Create and maintain relationships with clinical agencies to secure contracts for use and opportunities for reciprocal agreements to recruit and hire program graduates
  • Ensures the curriculum, policies, procedures, and operations of the program are in full compliance with JRCERT standards
  • Participate in accreditation reporting, preparation, and record-keeping
  • Establish processes for orienting and mentoring all new faculty (including adjuncts) to the teaching responsibilities in the Rad Tech program at the College and in the clinical sites
  • Inventory and maintain the necessary supplies and equipment according to the budget projections
  • Plans the program budget every year and submits it to the Dean of Natural and Health Sciences
  • Develop admissions criteria, including prerequisites, with enrollment leadership
  • Approves new students for admissions to the Radiology program
  • Routinely review, evaluates and revises program policies as necessary and supervise faculty and staff compliance
  • Work with the Faculty Chair to hire and supervise part-time faculty
  • Organize and develop clinical placements and coordinate with external agencies, evaluate and assure clinical education effectiveness
  • Provide oversight and management of the clinical lab functions to include: safety; equipment maintenance, upgrades and acquisition; supply inventory management; orientation for faculty, students, and guests; maintain lab calendar and lab usage data/reports; maintain lab guidelines/policies/procedures
  • Facilitate continuing academies and professional development of faculty
  • Conduct performance evaluations of faculty and staff in the program
  • Maintain experience and credentials in radiology disciplines
  • Recruit Advisory Board members and coordinate meetings
  • Teaching

  • Prepare for and teach classes as assigned while making good use of class time and keeping all classes for the scheduled period
  • Develop appropriate grading policies and methods of student assessment to monitor and communicate academic progress
  • Provide full information to students regarding course syllabi, objectives, text, and materials required for the courses taught
  • Maintain accurate records of student attendance and academic progress
  • Recognize individual differences in the classroom, and adapts instructional techniques accordingly
  • Encourage and motivate students in a positive/professional manner to do their best
  • Refer students to appropriate staff, office or resource person for information, guidance, financial assistance, placement, etc.
  • Enforce regulations in the school catalog and student handbook
  • Attend scheduled faculty, department, and committee meetings
  • Use college equipment and property appropriately and have students do the same
  • May be required to teach online
  • EDUCATIONAL EXPERIENCE: A Master's Degree from an accredited higher education institution is required.

    EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

  • Minimum of three (3) years of professional clinical experience in Radiology
  • Two years of teaching experience in a JRCERT-accredited program
  • Holds current registration in radiography from the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists
  • Experience instructing students from a diverse background
  • Experience in conducting course design and learning assessments using multiple measures
  • Experience using technology in the classroom and for distance learning, and traditional/nontraditional methods of instruction
