Job Details
Characteristic Duties and Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
•Advises and counsels managers and employees with regard to employee relations, labor-management relations, policies and procedures, and sensitive personnel matters.
•Serves as a resource and point of contact to management on issues that arise in the workplace by interpreting, applying and administering university policies and labor contracts.
•Oversees recruitment and employment activities, assuring that qualified employees are recruited and hired in accordance with established policies. Provide guidance and support for initiatives to recruit, retain and develop a professional and diverse workforce.
•Responds to employee relations issues and facilitates effective solutions in alignment with applicable policies and laws.
•Works directly with labor union representatives and management to resolve labor relations issues.
•Develops or assists in the development of proactive, best practice strategies to enhance the workplace environment.
•Conducts investigative interviews and prepares cogent reports of investigative outcomes.
•Works collaboratively HR administrators on projects and special assignments.
•Partners with Director of Benefits Administration on responding to workplace accommodations in accordance with the American with Disabilities Act.
•Oversees and ensures the processing of unemployment claims within established timeframes. Attends unemployment hearings as required.
•Other duties as assigned.
This is an onsite position; work for this role is performed on campus.
Qualifications:MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
•Bachelors Degree in related field required. Master’s Degree in Human Resources Management or related field strongly preferred.
•Minimum five to seven years of administrative experience with strong emphasis on employee and labor relations.
•Must be a strong team player with the ability to establish effective working relationships with peers, subordinates and managers.
•Strong attention to detail.
•Prior supervisory experience preferred.
•Proven ability with leveraging data to drive outcomes.
•Ability to maintain the highest degree of confidentiality and diplomacy at all times, possess a high level of professionalism and be customer service driven and flexible in attitude.
•Proven ability to work in fast paced, deadline driven environment.
•Capable of working independently with little supervision as well as serve as productive team member.
•Strong organizational skills.
•Strong interpersonal, diplomacy, communication and listening skills.
•Strong organizational and prioritization skills.
•Strong computer skills including Microsoft Office products, specifically Access, Word, Excel, and Outlook
•Must have a passion for excellent customer service and commitment to exceptional quality.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
•Master’s Degree in Human Resources Management or related field
•SHRM Certified Professional,
•Prior experience in a University setting.
•Prior project management experience, preferably within Human Resources.
