Overview

Reporting to the Community Action Program Director, the Community Action (CA) Program Coordinator supports the operational and logistical scope of Community Action, a multi-day small-group experience program of Princeton Orientation. The CA Program Coordinator develops and facilitates training sessions, retreats and other programming to deepen student learning and strengthen leadership development. Advising students, especially first-years, on pathways for continued service engagement post-CA, as well as, other student-led programs or initiatives is a significant portion of this position. The CA Program Coordinator encourages, supports and invites diverse perspectives in a commitment to the Center's vision to have Princeton University students make the world more equitable by respecting differences and creating access and opportunity for all people and communities to thrive. The CA Program Coordinator annually evaluates programming for effectiveness and contributes to reporting. This position supervises a cohort of undergraduate student fellows and a graduate intern.

The John H. Pace, Jr. '39 Center for Civic Engagement aims to amplify Princeton students' impact in the world. As articulated in its 2020-2025 Strategic Plan, the Pace Center's work is guided by a set of partnership principles as well as a student learning framework that centers equity, empathy, and empowerment. The Pace Center annually welcomes half of the incoming class (650+ new students) through Community Action as well as offers over 250 summer internships and robust sustained service programming throughout the academic year.



Responsibilities
Community Action * Support and contribute to the strategic direction for Community Action, a multi-day small-group experience program of Princeton Orientation, in collaboration with the Community Action Program Director and Princeton Orientation planning team.

* Coordinate the operational and logistical scope of Community Action including, but not limited to student leadership recruitment and selection; database management; small-group assignments; supply management; communications and website maintenance; scheduling; transportation; relationship management with campus and community partners.

* Manage communications with Community Action student leaders and program participants related to service and leadership opportunities throughout the year.

* Annually evaluate and assess Community Action programming and contribute to annual reports for CA and the Pace Center. Write and/or solicit stories for digital and print materials.

Student Leadership Learning & Development

*Design and facilitate training sessions, retreats and/or resources for students leading small-group experiences and/or participating in other Pace Center programs to deepen student learning and leadership development utilizing the Pace Center's Learning Outcomes and Partnership Principles.

* Elevate opportunities and pathways for engagement in service with special emphasis on first-year students including, but not limited to targeted communication campaigns, hosting or coordinating information sessions, study break events, or dialogue based programs.

* Provide advisement to student-led service programs or initiatives as assigned.

* Collaborate with Pace Center and campus colleagues to evaluate and assess effectiveness of programming and contribute to annual reports for the Pace Center. Write and/or solicit stories for digital and print materials.

* Contribute to Pace Center-specific and campus-wide working groups and committees focused on collaboration and enhancement of institutional priorities as needed.

Supervision

* Serve as the direct supervisor for a cohort of undergraduate students supporting Community Action (CA) through a year-long fellowship, including on-going professional development; one-on-one and group advisement; dialogue; critical reflection; and planning and implementation of CA.

* Serve as the direct supervisor for a summer-term graduate intern focused on supporting Community Action.

Qualifications

Requirements

Bachelor's degree and 3 years of relevant experience

* Experience in large-scale program development and operations. Excellent organizational, analytical, problem-solving, project management and event planning skills. Strong time management, attention to detail, and ability to manage multiple priorities.

* Experience in student advising with capacity to lead or guide students through program development and implementation.

* Experience with curriculum design, teaching and/or facilitating training sessions for undergraduate students or young adults.

* Ability to act as an inclusive leader to create environments of involvement, respect, connection and community.

* Demonstrated experience in building relationships, working collaboratively with a variety of stakeholders, and forming and sustaining effective partnerships with diverse stakeholders and organizations.

* Experience working closely with communities that have been historically marginalized from the systems that affect their lives so as to always keep the lived experiences of people and communities at the center of our programming approach.
