The College of Engineering & Applied Science at the University of Colorado Colorado Springs (UCCS) will establish and maintain a pool of Lecturers in Department of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering from which future appointments to temporary, non-tenure track positions will be made. Appointments are part-time (less than 50% time) and will be made semester-by-semester. 

This position will teach classes for the department of department of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering. Classes may be on-campus, online, or hybrid. Courses may be at either the graduate or undergraduate levels and can cover any of the broad spectrum of topic areas in both mechanical engineering and aerospace engineering.

This position has been determined to be exempt from the overtime provisions of the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA).

What We Offer:

Salary Range: $4,000-$5,000 per 3-credit hour course. Pay rate is dependent upon education and experience of the lecturer. Compensation is prorated based on course credit hours.

Temporary Lecturer appointments are not eligible for group health and life insurance benefits or vacation leave accrual. This position is eligible for paid sick leave. Information on benefits, including eligibility, is located at: http://www.cu.edu/employee-services.

Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications

  • Master’s degree mechanical engineering or a closely related field
  • Terminal degree in mechanical engineering or closely related field is a minimum requirement to teach graduate courses
Preferred Qualifications

  • Terminal degree in mechanical engineering or closely related field
  • At least four months teaching experience.
  • Relevant industry experience that includes current engagement in professional activities.
Physical Requirements

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to move. 
  • Employee is occasionally required to have long periods of sitting, moderate bending, and fine motor skills.
  • The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 20 pounds.
