Job Description:

The Department of Architecture at the School of Sciences and Engineering (SSE), seeks employment for a full-time faculty member position at the rank of Assistant, Associate or Full Professor in the area of Humanities in Architecture starting Fall 2022. The successful candidate is expected to be active and capable of developing research and provide services in his/her field of specialization.

Applicants must have extensive experience in the area of humanities in architectural design and possess exemplary teaching skills. The successful candidate is expected to contribute to the exploration of humanities aspects in architectural and interior design within the Bachelor of Architectural Engineering Program at the American University in Cairo. She/he is also expected to establish and pursue a research focus in the area of humanities, environmental psychology and architectural research methods, interior design and to lead an architectural design studio-focused on the aspects of humanities to ensure that students acquire appropriate knowledge, understanding and related skills. The successful candidate is also expected to contribute to selected methodology and theory and practice courses as well as thesis supervision in the master's degree in architecture along with other members of the department.

The candidate will be appointed by the Department of Architecture, which is rapidly expanding its programs and facilities. The newly introduced graduate program is developed to bridge between Architecture and other disciplines with focus on both the liberal arts and advanced technicalities. The departmental facilities include state-of-the-art computing, 3D modeling and printing facilities, and a building sciences lab.

Requirements:

Candidates must have a Doctoral Degree in Architecture. She/he should have a significant academic experience in the area of humanities as related to architectural design; preferably a candidate with a North American or a similar experience. Of particular interest are candidates who demonstrate experiential/educational design excellence.
