Nature of Work:

The CU College of Nursing has an opening for a part-time 0.40-0.60 FTE position as a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP)  / Instructor / Senior Instructor / Assistant Professor (Open Rank) in the Non-Tenure Clinical Practice Track.  Faculty rank is based on experience and qualifications.

Nature of Work:

The CU College of Nursing is seeking a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) for a part-time (0.40-0.6 FTE) position to practice at Sheridan Health Services, a Federally Qualified Health Center located in southwest Denver, CO (zip code: 80236). This position includes full exercise of the scope of outpatient Psychiatric and Mental Health care, including medication management and Medication Assisted Recovery (MAR) Therapy for DATA-waived applicants. Sheridan Health Services has an integrated care model, and this position interacts closely with the clinic’s Adult and Pediatric Primary Care Providers and Behavioral Health Providers to provide coordinated care to patients. Sheridan Health Services has a growing MAR program, and adopts a Harm Reduction approach; therefore an ideal candidate would be experienced in MAR therapy and comfortable with the Harm Reduction model.

Part-time appointments below 0.50 FTE are non-benefitted, while part-time appointment at or above 0.50 FTE are benefits eligible.

Clinic Description:

Sheridan Health Services is a multi-site, nurse-managed federally qualified community health center, funded through the Health Resources and Services Administration Bureau of Primary Healthcare; and is a collaborative effort between the College of Nursing and the Sheridan School District. There are now 52 employees at two convenient locations to serve community health needs primarily for residents of Arapahoe, Denver and Jefferson counties.  A Youth Health Clinic is located in the Sheridan School District Administration building. The Family Health Clinic is located in southwest Denver on the Fort Logan campus and provides services to adults and children, 65% of whom identify at Latinx, and 42% of whom are best served in another language, with Spanish being the predominant second language.  Services offered include primary care across the lifespan; prenatal and postpartum, gynecology, dentistry, pharmacy, behavioral health, and outpatient substance abuse treatment.  Sheridan Health Services is a Patient-Centered Medical Home, and as such, we uphold a model of care that places the patient at the center, incorporating the values and beliefs of the patient in all decision-making. Work is performed independently under the general direction and supervision of the SHS Clinical Director of Primary Care & Pediatrics.

Examples of Work Performed:

  • Facilitate execution of an integrated model of care within a primary care environment.
  • Provide mental health care within the scope of the Psychiatric NP guidelines to a caseload of patients.
  • Develop patient-centered care plans individualized to patient’s needs.
  • Provide case management and care coordination with providers of service including but not limited to primary care providers, behavioral health providers, school personnel, family members, and other mental health and community partners.
  • Evaluate situations of Mental Health Crisis and take appropriate action to ensure client safety and the safety of all clinic users.
  • Collaborate with family and/or professionals to maintain and maximize quality of care for patients
  • Utilizes consultation model with other providers when appropriate
  • Provide evaluation and comprehensive treatment for medication management
  • Complete all required clinical and administrative documentation according to accepted standards of practice, within established timelines as prescribed by clinic policy
  • Participate in scheduled individual supervision, care team meetings, interdisciplinary work groups, monthly staff meetings, and other required meetings.
  • Conducts routine chart audits as required
  • Participates in after-hours call
  • Participates in quality improvement efforts for continued high quality care
  • Ensure strict compliance with University and professional policies/procedures
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
Salary and Benefits:

The 1.0 FTE equivalent salary range (or hiring range) for each position are below and will be prorated depending on agreed upon FTE:

$85,000 - $93,000 annually at Instructor of Clinical Practice/PMHNP

$88,000 - $96,000 at Sr. Instructor of Clinical Practice /PMHNP

$90,000 - $105,000 at Assistant Professor of Clinical Practice /PMHNP

In addition to the annual salary for this position, an annual administrative stipend will also be offered.  Both the salary and the stipend offered to the finalist(s) selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to, internal equity, experience, education, specialty and training.

The above salary range (or hiring range) represents the University’s good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting.

  • Current PMHNP Board certification
  • Current RN, RXN, and APRN licensures in good standing (any state)
  • Must have CO licensures by date of hire. Could be working toward CO clinical licenses during application process and registered with DORA-Department of Regulatory Agencies.

  • Graduate degree in nursing from an accredited institution

      Doctoral degree in nursing from an accredited institution
    • Current PMHNP Board certification
    • Current RN, APN and RxN licensures in good standing (Any State)Could be working toward CO clinical licenses during application process and registered with DORA-Department of Regulatory Agencies. Must have Colorado licensures by date of hire.

    Conditions of employment:

    • Must be willing and able to obtain Colorado RN, RXN and APRN licenses by date of hire.
    • Must be willing and able to apply for DEA licensure within 30 days of hire
    • Must be willing and able to obtain valid NPI number by date of hire
    • Must be willing and able to obtain valid Colorado Medicaid Provider number within 30 days of hire date
    • Must be willing and able to complete CAQH by date of hire
    • Must be willing and able to remain credentialed by all necessary parties and ensure credentialing materials stay current.

    • Must be willing and able to work in a normal patient care environment with some exposure to biological hazards and infectious diseases.

    Preferred Qualifications:

    • Two years of experience in advanced practice
    • Experience with Substance Use Disorders
    • Experienced DATA 2000/MAT/X-Waivered Practitioner
    • Experience utilizing bilingual skills (Spanish/English) at a conversation level in a clinical setting.
    • Experience with Medication Assisted Recovery (MAR) and comfort with a Harm Reduction model of care
    Competencies:
