CHAIR, DEPARTMENT OF HEALTH SCIENCES

The School of Community Health and Behavioral Sciences in Northeastern University’s Bouvé College of Health Sciences seeks an innovative, visionary, and dynamic leader to serve as the next chair of the Department of Health Sciences.

The Department of Health Sciences’ approach to education is grounded in experiential learning with a strong focus on integrating community engagement, innovation, and interdisciplinary collaboration throughout the spectrum of learning opportunities.

A diverse, interdisciplinary, and growing department, Health Sciences comprises 45 faculty engaged in research, teaching, and practice. In the last five years, full-time faculty have grown by 25% and graduate students have grown by more than 150%. The undergraduate program has seen even more robust growth, having increased from 127 students in 2008 to more than 900 in 2021.

In line with Northeastern’s commitment to interdisciplinary research and community engagement, the Department of Health Sciences has outstanding research, clinical, and training relationships with the local community, the City of Boston, and Massachusetts State agencies. An earned doctoral degree in public health or a related health profession, including but not limited to medicine or the biological or social sciences, is required.
