Job Description:

A Veterinary Technician in the Cardiology Service at the University of Florida Small Animal Hospital provides nursing care to small and large animal patients being seen for cardiac issues, assisting with receiving appointments, diagnostic workups including echocardiograms and ECG, measuring blood pressure, assisting with minimally invasive procedures in the Cath Lab as well as a variety of general technical duties for patients seen by the service. Nursing staff in this service work closely with several faculty veterinary cardiologists, residents, and veterinary students on a daily basis. Applicants should thrive in a fast paced, patient-focused environment and also enjoy providing excellent customer service to a wide variety of clients, coworkers, and referring practices.

An individual in this position must possess excellent communication skills and be proactive in determining the needs of the hospital. A successful applicant should enjoy learning new things and can quickly adapt to a changing environment. They need to possess a good base knowledge of veterinary medicine and express a positive attitude in their daily work. The individual must be able to communicate effectively, demonstrate critical thinking and professionalism.

Expected Salary:

Salary is $16.50 to $20.00 hourly.

Minimum Requirements:

Veterinary Technician I: High school diploma or equivalent and two years of veterinary experience or one year of veterinary experience and currently enrolled in a veterinary technician program or a graduate of a veterinary technician program.

Veterinary Technician II: Credentialed veterinary technician and four years of veterinary experience.
