The housekeeper performs cleaning tasks necessary to maintain the College in a sanitary, orderly, and attractive condition.

Key Tasks and Responsibilities

1. Cleans assigned areas by washing furnishings, floors and equipment with special cleaning solutions and disinfectants to prevent spread of disease, moving and rearranging furniture and equipment in an orderly manner.
2. Provides housekeeping services by following standards and procedures, measuring results against standards and making necessary adjustments.
3. Operate various cleaning equipment required to complete jobs.
4. Empties trash containers and replenish supplies of soap, towels and other dispensable items.
5. Cleans and prepares guest rooms as needed.
6. May assist in wall washing, floor refinishing, carpet shampooing, and other tasks as needed.
7. Address if possible any conditions observed which require attention or present a safety hazard.
8. Considerable standing, walking, reaching and stooping is required.  Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds.  This position requires corrected vision and hearing to normal range and eye-hand coordination.
9. Performs other duties and assists in other areas of the college as needed. 

Education and Training

High school diploma or GED.  Previous working experience helpful.

Knowledge and Experience

Must have the ability to follow oral and written instructions.  Follows established guidelines of assignments and consulting with supervisor as needed.   

Equipment used includes mops, buckets, ladders, vacuum cleaners, housekeeping carts and various cleaning solutions.

The position receives on-the-job training to become familiar with all areas of the College and duties of the position.
