Summary

The Staff Instructor, under the supervision of the Executive Director, will facilitate and teach academic courses in Tulane University Pre-College Programs. Courses are designed to provide participants with an enriching experience that engages them in a variety of topics. The curriculum and the development of the course will be based on subject standards with an emphasis in project-based learning. In addition to teaching a specifically designed enrichment curriculum, the staff instructor is also responsible for continuously monitoring student progress, organizing and supervising both on-site and off-site academic learning experiences, as well as assisting senior program staff in organizing culminating activities to showcase student projects.

Program Activities Schedule: 

Classroom Instruction - Monday through Friday, 9:00 a.m. to 12noon and 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m.

Occasional professional development workshops, 5:30 to 6:30 as assigned.

Additional activities: staff meetings, academic course preparations, and one-on-one student tutoring and/or mentoring sessions as needed.

 

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in an education or field related to course offered

Preferred Qualifications

• Teaching experience, preferably with children or adolescents.
• Graduate course work in a related field.
• Teacher certification.
