Salary: $51,145

The College is looking for exceptional colleagues to join the MVCC community. We are currently seeking a full-time Admissions Specialist in our Admissions office. The Admissions Specialist works closely with the Director of Admissions to develop and implement an Admissions Recruitment Plan that is consistent with the College’s strategic plan and initiatives. Responsible for recruiting students to achieve college enrollment objectives by working with high school counselors, adult learners, community agencies, and local businesses by participating in information programs and assisting students in the selection of educational programs

Key responsibilities for this position include:

  • Represents the College at recruiting events such as college nights, open houses, information sessions, high school visitations, local businesses, etc.;
  • Coordinates and assists with the implementation of recruitment activities with the Academic Schools, Center for Corporate & Community Education, and the Rome Campus;
  • Counsels prospective students on program selection and explains services available at the College;
  • Works closely with other offices on campus to identify, recruit, and assist prospective students to the college;
  • Coordinates the College Connection and Magnet Bridge program for the college;
  • Coordinates all on-campus group recruitment events;
  • Assists in the preparation of admissions brochures, pamphlets and booklets describing educational programs and opportunities available at the College;
  • Works with the Director of Admissions to analyze data and develop programs and services to increase yield rates;
  • Collaborates with the Director of Admissions and Assistant Director of Admissions to provide recruitment strategies and recommendations;
  • Other duties as need and as assigned by the Director of Admissions as related to the job description.

Qualifications:

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree
  • Experience in college admissions, recruitment, counseling or related field
  • Possession of valid New York State Drive License at time of appointment and for duration of appointment
  • Must have strong written and oral communication skills
  • Ability to travel throughout New York State and work some evenings/weekends

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Three (3) years of experience in a community college admissions office
  • Demonstrated familiarity with the Banner student records management system
