Job Description
The National Corn to Ethanol Research Center (NCERC) is seeking candidates to fill a Visiting Research Fellow position. The Research Fellow will assist scientific supervisors with designing and executing research projects at NCERC. The Visiting Research Fellow will gain experience through hands-on assignments in the following categories:
-Running analytical testing, including instrumental analysis such as HPLC, and various wet chemistry testing assays.
-Running trials related to biochemical conversions.
-Data collection, analysis, and reporting to support research projects, sponsored projects and contractual projects.
-Communications with internal, interdisciplinary teams as well as industry clients, academic collaborators, and external stakeholders.
-Revising and developing Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
-Project design, implementation, and project management.

The National Corn to Ethanol Research Center at SIUE is a nationally recognized research center dedicated to the development and commercialization of biofuels, specialty chemicals, and other bio-based products. NCERC’s versatile laboratories, fermentation suite, and pilot plant are staffed with veteran engineers, operators, and scientists who offer the insight and experience needed to ensure your project’s success. Clients benefit from the ability to take their process from the lab to intermediate to pilot scale, conveniently in one state-of-the-art facility. Biofuels and bio-based material producers from around the world use the NCERC’s facilities to increase yield, optimize processes, test new technologies, and evaluate new products.

Minimum Qualifications
The Visiting Research Fellowship program is for recent graduates of a bachelor’s or master’s program in a STEM field. The Fellowship program is intended to provide training and hands-on experience to prepare the next generation of engineers and scientists for work in mid- to high- skill jobs in the bioeconomy.
