The Division of Community Health Sciences (CHS) in the School of Public Health at the University of Illinois at Chicago (UIC) seeks applications for two faculty positions to begin August 16, 2022:
Tenure Track Assistant/Associate Professor
Description: We seek a dynamic new faculty member for a tenure-track Assistant/Associate professor position. We encourage applicants from backgrounds historically under-represented in the health sciences and whose research and teaching interests center the health of communities/populations and is consistent with our division's focus on health equity and social justice. Priority areas include, but are not limited to: the health of minoritized populations, the determinants of and innovative solution for health inequities, and the use of community-partnered research approaches. Responsibilities include a balance of teaching and advising graduate students, securing external funding to support a robust research agenda, and contributing to the service mission of the division and the school.
Qualifications: Applicants must hold a doctoral degree in either public health, community or population health, psychology, sociology, anthropology, public policy, or a related social science. Scholarly productivity and a history of (or potential for) obtaining external funding appropriate for the desired faculty rank must be evident. We also are looking for applicants with experience and enthusiasm for teaching and mentoring graduate students and who are willing to contribute to the growth and success of the division through service activities. Unique qualities that offer CHS an opportunity to expand its vision and impact are also desired. Clinical Assistant Professor (non-tenure track)
Description: This new non-tenure track position reflects our commitment to developing a skilled public health workforce and a new generation of community and population health scientists. Applicants should be well-versed in the social and structural determinants of health and health inequities across the life course. Expertise creating engaging and interactive learning environments is desired, and experience teaching via online learning platforms is preferred. The candidate will have primary responsibilities for teaching three to four graduate courses from the school or divisional required core courses each year as needed by the department and in accordance with the candidate's area of expertise. This position is a 9-month salaried appointment with anticipated up to 80% teaching/advising and 20% administrative/service responsibilities. However, if the individual has specific research interests, there is potential for 60% teaching/advising, 20% administration/service, and 20% research. Salary is commensurate with experience and qualifications.
Qualifications: Applicants must hold a doctoral degree in public health, community health, psychology, sociology, anthropology, public policy, or a related social science. Public health practice experience is desirable and evidence of graduate teaching experience is required. Priority areas include, but are not limited to: queer health, refugee/immigrant health, mental health, trauma-informed public health, child health, and aging. We are particularly interested in candidates with experience and/or a willingness to teach collaboratively.
