Schedule: PRN Days – 10 or 12 hour shifts

The role you’ll contribute:

Performs specialized nursing care in all phases of the peri-operative role. In the absence of a qualified physician the registered nurse who possesses appropriate knowledge and technical skills serves as first assistant for surgical procedures.

  • Assists with pre-and postoperative assessment of the patient.
  • Assumes unit responsibility when delegated to do so by the nursing manager or director.
  • Assures appropriate traffic control in the Operating Room.
  • Assures patients’ right for privacy, safety and confidentiality at all times.
  • Performs surgical counts per policy.
  • Prepares Operating Room set up.
  • Promotes and contributes positively to intra and interdepartmental relations.
  • Recognizes abnormal diagnostic laboratory data, blood gas values, radiologic data and knows the implied significance of each.
  • Recognizes emergency situations and reacts efficiently and appropriately.
Qualifications

The expertise and experiences you’ll need to succeed:

  • Circulating skills
  • Scrub skills
  • Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing upon hire (diploma or transcripts)
  • Graduate of an accredited RN Surgical Assistant program at a college or university upon hire (diploma, certificate of completion or transcripts)
  • One year of previous Operating Room experience preferred
  • One year of previous RNFA experience preferred
  • Current FL Registered Nurse license upon hire
  • Current American Heart Association BLS upon hire
  • Current American Heart Association ACLS upon hire
  • Current CNOR Certification upon hire
  • Four hours Hip and Knee Replacement Education within 6 months of hire date, then annually
  • Two hours of Stroke Education within 6 months of hire date, then 1 hour annually
  • Certification as an RNFA preferred
