Job Responsibilities

The Transfer Credit Coordinator is part of the Registrar’s Office team. This position is responsible for the independent management of transfer and non-course credit processes and the coordination of activities with academic departments and external education entities and agencies as they relate to credit awarding. Performs credentials evaluations and determines transcription transactions. Manages all aspects of transfer credit evaluation, including military and foreign coursework. Evaluates college transcripts and makes final determination of credit awarded. Manages and maintains accuracy of the transfer credit equivalency database within the student system. Researches course descriptions from other institutions. Coordinates credit determination with academic departments. Enters institutional information into Colleague and updates when necessary. Advises faculty, staff, and students on policies and procedures relating to transfer credit evaluation and provides regular training sessions for academic advisors, admissions staff, college recruiters, and faculty. Manages non-course evaluation including credit by examination (AP, CLEP, DSST, and IB). and experiential credit. Maintains accuracy of the non-course database system and external information available for faculty, staff, and students. Advises faculty, staff, and students on policies and procedures relating to credit by examination and experiential credit. Works with the Transfer Credit unit to continuously improve operating procedures for advanced standing functions. Updates forms as necessary. Maintains unit's section of the team site portal. Manages website information, develops resources, and makes recommendations to improve communication and the student experience. Works regular weekly hours at the front counter of the Registrar’s Office assisting students and serves as backup for the Transfer Credit Specialist. Provides assistance as needed for the other units within the Registrar’s Office such as the Graduation , Registration, and Academic Records.Engages in appropriate professional development activities. Stays abreast of AACRAO’s “Transfer Credit Practices of Educational Institutions” and new trends in transfer credit practices. Serves on institutional committees. Performs other duties as assigned by the Associate Registrar and Registrar.

Minimum and Additional Requirements

This position requires a bachelor's degree and two (2) years experience in student services programs.

Preferred Qualifications

A master's degree is strongly preferred. Experience with Ellucian Colleague, document imaging, post-secondary teaching and transfer credits along with familiarity with advanced standing and academic transcripts is also preferred. Ideal candidate must possess excellent oral and written communication skills; superior technical skills in microcomputer and database applications; excellent data entry skills; the ability to work with diverse groups with diplomacy; and the ability to provide excellent customer service in stressful situations.
