UW Medical Center - Northwest Laboratory has an outstanding opportunity for a - PART- TIME, DAY SHIFT, LAB ASSISTANT. The Lab Assistant performs assigned support, pre-technical and semi-technical procedures in the laboratory.

TYPICAL SHIFTS
  • Day Shift: 05:00-13:30 or 06:30-15:00
  • Evening Shift: 13:30-22:00
  • Night Shift: 22:00-06:30

  • RESPONSIBILITIES:
    Obtains specimens from inpatients, outpatients and outreach accounts according to the time guidelines established by the department
    Logs tests in the computer, labels, centrifuges, prepares aliquots, and delivers specimens
    Processes, prepares and ships reference lab samples, according to reference laboratory specifications
    Answers technical questions relating to laboratory procedures and polices
    Troubleshoots and resolves problems and customer service issues
    As assigned, locates patient results and generates reports/faxes.
    Cleans, maintains, and stocks exam and work areas
    May be required to drive a hospital-owned vehicle as a function of job

    REQUIREMENTS:
    High school diploma or GED equivalent
    • Completion of a phlebotomy course
    • Medical Assistant - Phlebotomy (MA-P) certification with the WA State Department of Health
    *If the New Hires does not have an MA-P, they will be required to complete an inhouse training program. As a condition of employment, the MA-P must be obtained within 90 days of the start date.
