The Fisher Center for Real Estate & Urban Economics (FCREUE) is an internationally renowned research center housed at the Haas School of Business located on the University of California, Berkeley campus. The mission of FCREUE is to educate students and real estate professionals, to support and conduct cutting-edge research on real estate, urban economics, and the California State economy, and share findings and expertise with academics, business, government, and the general public.

Responsibilities

Conducts statistical studies in support of research proposals and protocols.
  • Uses multiple statistical analysis programs to process, clean, and analyze data

Maintains and develops research gathering, retrieval, and reporting systems.
  • Manages file systems, research repositories, and progress tracking systems.

Plans studies, including the design of survey instruments and determining the sampling and reporting procedures.
  • Utilizes statistical knowledge regarding instrument construction and sampling procedures.

Collaborates on the design, documentation, testing, and implementation of research studies.
  • May coordinate research team workflow.

Prepares reports and/or analyses for internal department constituents.
  • Documents novel datasets for future reference
  • Documents and shares code to ensure replicability.

Assists in developing systems for organizing data to analyze, identify and report trends.
  • Gathers and analyzes research data; prepares and summarizes information and/or recommendations.

Utilizes software to enter, manipulate, and report data.

Independently plans limited studies or assists higher-level Analysts in large, complex studies.
  • Understands components of lit review and how it relates to study design.
  • Contributes to developing projects and revisions of ongoing projects.
  • Attends and participates in Research seminars.

Required Qualifications
  • Working knowledge of research function.
  • Working skills in statistical analysis, systems programming, database design and data security measures.
  • Working skills in analysis and consultation.
  • Skills to communicate complex information in a clear and concise manner both verbally and in writing.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, demonstrating a desire to promote diversity, equity, inclusion and belonging to establish and maintain positive & professional working relationships with colleagues, students and team members.
  • Exemplifies Haas' four Defining Leadership Principles: (1) Question the status quo; (2) Confidence without attitude; (3) Students always; and (4) Beyond yourself.
  • Demonstrates an understanding of and commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging in a business, organization or public university setting.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of current statistical software (eg Stata, ArcGis/QGIS, Python, R, SAS, LATEX)
  • Strong quantitative background.
  • Demonstrated skills to work independently to solve problems.
  • Long-term interest in pursuing research in Economics.

Education
  • Bachelor's degree in related area and / or equivalent experience / training.

Salary & Benefits

This is a non-exempt, biweekly paid appointment. The hourly pay for this role is $29.84.
