Position Summary:

The Academic Support Specialist provides front desk and office management in the ASC. The Academic Support Specialist’s main function is to supervise and manage daily front desk operations and services of the Academic Support Center (ASC).

Incumbents must possess proven ability to effectively work with a culturally, linguistically, and ethnically diverse faculty, staff, and student. They are expected to have excellent oral and written communication skills along with strong Information technology literacy skills such as Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams etc.)

Minimum Qualifications:

Associate degree in a related field and relevant work experience.

Successful Candidate must have or must possess:

  • Experience working in a fast-paced office
  • Experience with budget and financial record keeping.

Example of Job Duties:

Under the Director of the Academic Support Center (ASC) or other administrator, the Academic Support Specialist is accountable for the following essential functions:

  • Supervise and manage daily front desk operations and services of the Academic Support Center (ASC)
  • Hire, train, schedule and supervise student workers for ASC front desk coverage.
  • Coordinate and manage all administrative tasks: scheduling student appointments, provide telephone coverage, compose ASC correspondence, assist with budget and financial record keeping, maintain reports for ASC Director and other college departments,
  • Maintain and organize ASC website,
  • Coordinate and manage appointment schedules for tutors in Tutoring Database.
  • Coordinate with HR shared services to prepare contracts for ASC staff.
  • Troubleshoot computer or copier issues.
  • Work with IT Helpdesk to ensure efficient operation of hardware and software for all ASC computers.
  • Meet with ASC Director on a regular basis. Perform additional responsibilities as determined by the ASC Director.

Salary:
$30.31 hourly.
